I got a wisdom tooth but it has not completely come out as there is no space for it to come out as its covered with gums. Due to that got pus as well as swelling. I consulted few dentist & they said to remove the tooth n a surgery is required as they have to cut the bone.

The wisdom tooth usually erupts after 18 years of age. Due to the smaller jaw size in the present generations the tooth lacks space to erupt. Instead when it tries to erupt it causes severe pain around the region and also around the temple region of the face. Sometimes it gets infected and caused swelling. Since it is not totally erupted and covered by bone, a dentist lacks grip in holding firm to the tooth for extraction. Hence the covering bone has to be removed for easy removal. So the dentist has informed you correctly about the treatment plan, kindly go ahead and get it removed.

Yes when there is insufficient space for tooth to erupt it may cause repeated infection pain and septic. There is no other option remove it surgically.

Wisdom teeth which are not fully erupted in the mouth due to lack of space can get infected. They need to be surgically removed by cutting the tooth into pieces. Bone removal if required should be minimum.For further details, you may consult me.
