Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. With TSH 4.8 mU/L, thyroid function is normal. So no treatment is needed. Thanks.

The official reference range for the TSH test runs from approximately 0.5 to 4.5 or 5.0 (mIU/L) and you have to check again after 2 weeks and then decide on taking the tablet.

Get your antithyroid antibody test done if positive start medicine under supervision of a physician and if negative then monitor TSH regularly. If you are symptomatic then also start the medicine. You have not mentioned total cholesterol and LDL levels.

You have subclinical hypothyroidism, and dyslipidemia. If you are not symptomatic, mensutral cycles normal, anti tpo test negative and not planning for family, you can watch the tsh over 3monthy interval if you document a rising trend then probably yes you should be treated. Because of your low HDL you have raised ldl/hdl ratio you need o good lifestyle modification with regular 45 min exercise daily. Regards.
