hello lybrate user, patellofemoral pain syndrome are often due to injury, blow or repetitive unusual movement. although calf strain is most common cause of calf pain.still, deep vain thrombosis (DVT) cannot be ignored. glad to know that u have quit smoking (as smoking increases the risk of various vascular and respiratory diseases) drink plenty of water, 7-8 glass per day to remove toxins and maintain hydration.(hydrotherapy is also known to reduce inflammation), have healthy diet, add more fiber rich food in diet like spinech, beans, multigrain chapati, etc. add more fruits in diet. applying hot pack (hot fomentation) on knee, might help to reduce pain but strictly Avoid calf massage. natural homeopathic medicines are highly effective in joints and muscular complaints. it's safe and natural. take homeopathic Rx: Rhus to 30/ 3 pills/ 2 times/ for 4 days. revert back for further treatment.
