As soon as I got up my sugar level will be more ie 112, 107, 110 like that after some time it will be less than that like 100 ,102 r 104, is it prediabetes? I am worried or else it's normal? I left taking rice in my daily routine, no tea no coffee. Only millets & oats that's all I am having. I really worried a lot. After food it's shows normal ie 135, 128 r 120.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Following are the criteria to decide whether a person has normal blood glucose or not. 1) Normal :FBG: 70 to 110 mg, PP <140 mg & HbA1c%<5.9. 2) Pre-diabetes: FBG: 108 to 125 mg, PP :141 to199 mg & HbA1c%5.9 to 6.4. 3) Diabetes: FBG: 126 mg and above, PP: 200 mg and above & HbA1c% 6.5 and above. Sometimes only looking at fasting blood glucose may not give a clear idea. Therefore, it is better to check PP also. Plus if there is still a doubt then HbA1c% should also be checked. Looking at your weight and height the BMI is 23.88 kgs, which is marginally high. (normal <23 kgs/M2). If one has family history of diabetes, then if one is over weight and does not exercise, then there is a greater possibility of developing diabetes. Fortunately T2 DM is a preventable disease, that is if a person is in Pre-diabetic stage, then by controlling weight, taking a restricted diet and exercising regularly it can be either prevented or postponed. There is no need to stop eating rice. Almost every food that we eat contains carbohydrates (rice, wheat, jowar, ragi all other millets, sugar, jaggery, potato, sweet potato etc). What is to be kept in mind is to take a balanced diet, that meets exact caloric requirement based on your ideal body weight & extent of daily exercise. Foods to be avoided or taken very occasionally are sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries & other bakery items, sweet corn syrup containing foods etc. A daily exercise of 1 hour (brisk walking) is essential. Still if you have any doubts please come back. Thanks.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To control your blood sugar have more of fibrous food vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, beans, sprouts, nuts - have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals, have a light dinner with protein food in it & vegetables, take a walk for 10-15 min after dinner, have a well balanced diet with controlled portion from all the food groups as not having a particular group will lead to deficiency disease & metabolic imbalance - control weight with diet & exercise + sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep sleep & wake up time fixed.
