My left hand both bone broken below elbow. Both side plate fitted in 2000. Is it necessary to remove plate. Any side effect or problem in future.

Not absolutely necessary to remove plates, but it recommended to remove once proper bony union occurs .bcz of plate/ nail doesn't serve any function. Ideally implan removal between 3 to 18 months after bony union depends on bone, age and implant used, if there any clinical indications implants must be removed. Tq.

It is not necessary to remove the plate if the plate is decomposable naturaly.
