Hi, My wife's Haemoglobin level is 7.5 and we are planning for a baby, Can you please advise what is the adequate level for pregnancy and is there any risk associated with this 7.5 level. Of Haemoglobin level. Thanks Rgds

Adequate Hb levels are 12 gm % and above. It definitely has adverse effects on the baby and mother in pregnancy. Consult at the earliest. Oral pills, syrup or intravenous weekly doses can help.

Hello, That's, quite low. She needs to increase her iron, protein and folic acid intake. Anaemia mothers run always, a, risk of carrying baby with abnormalities and other problems. It can endanger both mother and unborn baby. Ensure that she is on diet prescribed by a nutrition expert before you think of starting a family.
