diet and workouts go a long way in helping you gain strength to gain weight, you must eat more calories than you burn. When you gain weight, some will be fat and some will be muscle. To gain muscle, you must eat protein. To boost the ratio of muscle to fat gain, you must exercise. To gain muscle and strength, you must engage in resistance exercise. To improve bodyfat percentage and gain weight, you must cycle through phases of gaining muscle and losing fat. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Which is best time to have green tea?
L go walk in early morning and in evening at gym about 5 pm.
Hye. Thankyou for the query. Green tea is a zero calorie drink. You can have it any time of the day depending on what is the reason for having it. Just understand that it should not replace your meals or not become your present workout meal.

Eating less is not a solution for losing weight you have to eat right. You are over weight by 12-15 kgs & your weight is not reducing because you have a sitting job & not doing any exercise. You have to be determined to do some physical activity & take a guided diet. Please share the details about you like: what you on daily basis(in detail) & do you have any medical problem. Hi lybrate-user here are 6 ways to gain weight healthily: 1. Eating 5 to 6 meals a day in order to gain weight, start eating 5-6 meals a day by breaking them into parts. Eating a lot at once may cause indigestion if the body fails to absorb all nutrients. Eat in small amounts, even if you are not hungry and there will be an increase in appetite from day to day. The aim should be to have a generously portioned breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as two to three snacks in between. 2. Start weight training if you build your muscles through weight training, it will convert the extra weight into lean body mass and also stimulate your appetite. The extra muscle increases the rate of metabolism. When you start exercising you will often experience extreme muscle soreness but it goes away in 3-5 days. 3. Load up on protein besides weight training, a protein-rich diet can help you gain mass. Eating a meal heavy in protein shortly after finishing exercise can be highly effective in adding extra pounds to your body. However, a diet focused only on lean protein is not helpful. It is important to make sure that your diet has plenty of fat in it. Eat foods rich in protein like cheese, meat, eggs, etc to gain weight in a healthy manner. 4. Workout your entire body a lot of people focus only on training the muscles on their arms, chest and shoulders and this is a grave error. Firstly, it will give you a disproportionate body; and it will make you prone to injuries. Therefore, it's important to work out the entire body for a complete and balanced look. 5. Drink your calories to reach the calorie requirement only by eating may be tough. Drinking milk, milkshakes or protein shakes with little or no sugar can be an effective way to load up on the calorie requirements. 6. Be patient and believe in yourself gaining weight quickly in a healthy manner is unrealistic. Every body type is different and it takes months to gain weight. Living healthy by eating the right diet will increase your strength. It is also important to keep following the routine even if you don't see any gains. Caution: junk food and fried foods must be avoided; although have a tendency to add more fat to your body but are very low in vitamins and minerals which are essentially required to keep you really fit.

Hi you have a bmi of 30.07 which just comes into category of obese. 18-25 is normal 25-30 is overweight 30- 35 is obese 35-40 obese class 2 40 + morbid obese usually bariatric surgery is recommended for people over 40 bmi. That is for your height a weight of 120 would be eligible for bariatric surgery. Bariatric surgery is tampering with the body. It can have side effects sometimes severe. Some people have lost lives too. It is better if you change your lifestyle, eat less, eat healthy, be active. Change yourself for the better. Live healthy. Stop eating fried stuff and sugar laden stuff. Consult experts.

lybrate-user, Looking at your information, it appears that diabetes is well under control. FBS closer to 100 mg is really good, however, it going up to 130 mg, is not a great concern. Since your PP glucose level is well within control. It would have been better if you had mentioned about HbA1c%. That should be <7. If it is around 6.8%, then control is excellent. You can bring FBS down by increasing the physical activity and may cutting night intake a bit. Thanks.

Please get a complete body check done through any good lab. Lethargic feeling could be due to various reasons 1. Lack of haemoglobin 2. Sugar problem 3. Thyroid. Or many more. Issue will be clear only after your tests. Other than that you should do intense exercise for 60 mins daily. That will boost your physical and mental energy. It will add spark to your life and make you fit and young.

Dear lybrate user, I would advise you to always mention the range that your lab report mentions as normal because different labs have different normal ranges for the tsh report. However, the most common range followed is 0.35-5.5- going by which your tsh is within the normal limits. Also it is recommended that free t3/t4 test should be done instead of total t3/t4 which has been done for you. As for your question, going by the present reports- you do not need any thyroid medicines.

Dear you can easily gain weight by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. Or take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening for strong digestive system. Or you can take amla powder 1 teaspoon with water for strong digestion. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. I am sending the diet chart. Follow it in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. 6. You can try protein powders like endura mass, milk powder, soya protein. And creatinine for weight gain by taking 1 tea spoon added in milk once a day.

Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. There are no special foods. Eat local and seasonal foods. Eat meals at frequent intervals. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits in your meals. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. Even if you were to take medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal.
