Hi doctor I am male 32 years old my weight is 82 kg and I have a big belly. As of which I have backache also. Please suggest a diet plan I should follow to reduce this.

Reduce oily food, junk food etc and increase fibre in your diet, invest atleast 30 mins a day for cardio, all the best.

I have a problem of burning and pain in my both testicles and same type of burning and pain in my thigh. It's actually started from right foots nail infection after suggestions of doctor I have remove it but after six months I have facing above problem so please tell me what should I do and suggest to which physician I should visit about my problem.

Quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretchingtowel hamstring stretch lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated hamstring stretch while sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds repeat 3 times for each leg.

I got hurted on ma right index finger upper joint before 6 months. It made the joint swelling. It hurts and paining while writing. And the pain is increasing day by day.

Do contrast bath therapy Take hot water in one bowl & cold water in another bowl. First dip your hand in hot water for 3min then in cold water for 1min, keep repeating for 20min, twice daily. Finger splints are available, stationary splint will give your finger complete rest whether with dynamic one you can do work as well

It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your neck pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any radiating upper limb pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. If you have a localized kind of pain in your neck then I can suggest you some initial steps: - to maintain proper posture of your neck while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you like tab etoshine, tab paracetamol etc. - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home focusing on isometric exercises for your neck region. - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. Please try this for 2-3 weeks and if your symptoms are still persisting, then it is wise to get some investigations done. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. I am a mechanical engineer and am working abroad. I have pain on my back side of left shoulder on neck which is back side of left chest it's very painful when I shake my shoulder or moving dat particular side .Is there any treatment exercise for this to get rid of it.

It is called as rheumatic arthritis. If your pain is more in the distal joints, ie. In the upper limbs if the pain is present in the fingers/wrist and in the lower limbs it the pain is present in the toes/ ankle, then we shall definitely say it is rheumatic arthritis. Wear elbow brace and wrist brace which will make her to feel warm and that will make the joints become firm. Hot water fermentation will help.

I am a 79 year old man, with reasonable health. I practice yoga asanas on alternate days and walk in the morning on other days. From one year I feel I am loosing balance and I stoop forward unconciously while walking. My knees do not seem to be strong enough and wobble a little early in the morning. I dont have sugar or high b. P. From a few months I feel I get tired very quickly. Any remidy for this?

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am suffering from pain in my lower legs. Blood test shows less of vitamin D and excess of Uric acid and LDL cholesterol. Although I have started medicines yet I do not know exact reason of it. I am 70 year old retired person with 153 cm height and 90 kg wt.

Mr. lybrate-user, Looking at your weight and height it is clear that you have grade 1 obesity with a BMI of 30.5 kgs/M2. Your ideal body weight should be closer to 65 kgs, hence, carrying an extra weight of 25 kgs. This itself can be a major reason for various problems. Plus if uric acid is hige (above 7 mg/100 ml), then that to may contribute to joint pains. You may have avoid high purine containing foods like red meat, organ meats, certain fishes like sardines, salmon, scallops, herrings, haddock and mushrooms and mussels. Also alcohol and aerated drinks need to be avoided. Thanks.

Left ankle is paining a lot, specially while walking from last one month. However, when I take rest it doesn't pain but even with small walk this is getting unbearable day by day. Please suggest some remedies which will help me to overcome the pain & also long term cure to this.

How do I care about sprained ankle? Suggest me some home remedies and medical treatment too.

Hello lybrate user, sprained ankle you should first and foremost avoid massaging the foot and ankle. Secondly get an x-ray of the ankle to rule out any fractures. You can apply crepe bandage, ice pack application and strict limb elevation while sleeping and active moments of the toe to avoid swelling and inflammation. Thank you.

I am 21 year old boy For few months I'm suffering from back pain Am a football player too. But sometimes I can't bend to take ball. If I sit for long then I can't wake also.

Do the cat/cow avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretchingstretch.

Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do neck & back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Use of cervical collar will give you relief. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Frozen shoulder is known complication of uncontrolled diabertes. Regular exercise is the only solution to avoid . Frozen shoulder is damage and stiffness of the capsule of joint and losing its softness. The supporting ligaments gets harder and harder day by day causing pain while attempting any movement, hence slow and steady physiotherapy under medication of anti-inflammatory tablets like flexon, combiflam etc and good sugar control is the only way out.
