Excessive production of prostaglandins is one of the major causes for most signs and symptoms of dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is almost wholly due to this and may be due to a tight cervix, the mouth of the uterus. Such cases improve totally after a normal child birth due to stretching of the uterine musculature. Secondary dysmenorrhea, however, needs proper investigating into in order to know the causative pathology. The underlying pathology needs to be treated to control painful menses. Pain-killers can only offer temporary relief. The common causes of secondary dysmenorrhea are pelvic infections, congestive or inflammatory conditions within the pelvis like endometriosis, uterine tumors such as polyps or fibroids, and the presence of a foreign body such as an intrauterine contraceptive device [IUCD]. Homeopathy has a promising role to play in cases of dysmenorrhea. The medicines are known to reduce the severity of the pain as well as to treat the cause, whenever possible. Every patient with dysmenorrhea may present with a different set of individual symptoms, which are carefully noted while deciding the homeopathic line of treatment. Homeopathic treatment is strongly suggested. You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects

Diabetic Foot - How It Can Be Prevented & Treated?

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, Fellowship in Vascular Surgery, Ted Rogers Fellowship

Diabetic Foot - How It Can Be Prevented & Treated?

Diabetes alters the metabolism and functioning of almost entire body system. The most important targets are the circulatory and nervous system, leading to peripheral vascular disease and neuropathy. Diabetic foot is the result of a combination of these two factors in the feet – altered/reduced blood flow to the feet combined with reduced sensation.

  1. Neuropathy: When the sugar levels are poorly controlled, then the nerves in the legs are damaged, leading to reduced or absence of sensation. The patient cannot feel pain/heat/cold. Sensory neuropathy causes loss of protective sennsation leaving the foot at risk to repetative unnoticed trauma.
  2. Peripheral vascular disease: The blood vessels which are away from the heart are affected, leading to poor blood flow from the legs to the heart. Proper blood flow is essential for overall health, and when this is affected, the peripheral foot health is affected.

Some of the common foot problems encountered in diabetics are listed below:

  1. Fungal infections: Whether a person wears shoes regularly or not, they become more prone to fungal infections. The nails become discoloured, brittle, and break off. They are difficult to treat and may require oral medications.
  2. Ulcers: Diabetic ulcers are very common. The combined effect of reduced sensation and reduced blood flow leads to ulcers, which are not painful (due to lack of sensation) and therefore are ignored and not treated promptly. They can progress and become severe, even sometimes leading to amputation. Fungal ulcer are most common in between toes and in creases of a diabetic patients
  3. Corns: Diabetics are more prone to develop corns which are thick masses of skin near the bony area of a toe. This could be in areas where the shoes rub against the toes or between the toes where there is a lot of friction. Home care includes smoothing it with a pumice stone. The person should not try to remove them on their own.  Warts, bunions, ingrown toenails, hammertoes, etc., are also very common in diabetics.

Prevention/Treatment:

  1. The first and most important step is to monitor and regulate the blood sugar levels within ranges ideal for you.
  2. Warm water to be used for washing feet, and then to be dried well, to not leave a moist area between toes
  3. Regular feet care to check for blisters, ulcers, wounds, etc.
  4. Check toenails for overall health
  5. Preferably wear closed toe shoes
  6. Wear stockings or socks and shoes that fit well
  7. Moisturise the skin well to avoid drying
  8. Avoid exposing feet to extreme weather
  9. Quit smoking
  10. Ensure blood flow is maintained by not standing or sitting for prolonged periods and with regular exercise

If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

My boyfriend has sex with protection. And he does let sperms in the vagina. Last many month I am getting white discharge in high proposition. And also im getting rashes. And vagina smells very bad. Please find me solutions.

MBBS
General Physician, Greater Noida
Most of the time, vaginal discharge is perfectly normal. The amount can vary, as can odor and hue (its color can range from clear to a milky whitish), depending on the time in your menstrual cycle. For example, there will be more discharge if you are ovulating, breastfeeding, or are sexually aroused. None of those changes is cause for alarm. However, if the color, smell, or consistency seems significantly unusual, especially if it accompanied by vaginal itching or burning, you could be noticing an infection or other condition. These are a few of the things that can upset that balance: •Antibiotic or steroid use •Bacterial vaginosis, a bacterial infection more common in pregnantwomen or women who have multiple sexual partners •Birth control pills •Cervical cancer •sexually transmitted infections •Diabetes •Douches, scented soaps or lotions, bubble bath •Pelvic infection after surgery •Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) •Trichomoniasis, a parasitic infection typically contracted and caused by having unprotected sex •Vaginal atrophy, the thinning and drying out of the vaginal walls during menopause •Vaginitis, irritation in or around the vagina •Yeast infections Bacterial vaginosis is treated with antibiotic pills or creams. Here are some tips for preventing vaginal infections that can lead to abnormal discharge: •Keep the vagina clean by washing regularly with a gentle, mild soap and warm water. •Never use scented soaps and feminine products or douche. Also avoid feminine sprays and bubble baths. •After going to the bathroom, always wipe from front to back to prevent bacteria from getting into the vagina and causing an infection. •Wear 100% cotton underpants, and avoid overly tight clothing for further details consult privately.
