Dear lybrate-user, 1) sleep on plain surface, avoid bed. 2) do simple exercises of lower limbs. 3) do not use 2-wheeler more frequently.

Skipping A Meal - Can It Be Hazardous To Your Health?

In the race of getting to work on time, finishing files and completing all the tasks on your to-do list, eating is sometimes given the last priority. You may think that skipping a meal does no harm, but in fact it can have quite a detrimental effect on your physical and mental health.

Here are a few things that may happen when you skip a meal

You lose muscle weight: While skipping a meal may make you lose weight, this is not healthy weight loss. Skipping a meal makes the body lose muscle weight not fat. Losing muscle weight can, in turn, lead to a loss of energy and make you tire easily.

  1. You will crave junk food: When you skip a meal, your body craves for fillers and snacks. Thus, you are more likely to binge on chips and other such unhealthy snacks. In the long run, this can make you put on weight. It can also make you eat more for your next meal.
  2. You may be less productive: Skipping a meal can make you slowdown in terms of time taken to make decisions. It can also make you physically unsteady and leave you feeling lethargic thus, making you less productive. Not eating at regular times can also make you moody and affect your ability to concentrate on tasks.
  3. Your metabolism is affected: Skipping a meal may put your body into starvation mode so as to store energy. Not only does this slow down your rate of metabolism and leave you with less energy, it can also lead to weight gain as the calories are stored as fat instead of being burnt as energy.
  4. It can increase your risk of lifestyle diseases: Skipping a meal can make your blood sugar levels drop. Not having breakfast or lunch can also make you eat a heavier dinner that elevates your sugar levels. This type of fluctuation can affect your body’s insulin response time and lead to diabetes in the long run. Skipping meals can also lead to high blood pressure and hypertension.

It can cause indigestion: Stomach upsets like gas, bloating, acidity, pain etc are very often caused by skipping a meal. This is because when you skip a meal, the stomach is left empty for a long time leading to a build-up of gastric acids in the stomach. This acid then attacks the lining of the stomach causing ulcers and abdominal pain.

Nothing is decided by part of one report. Any couple desirous of pregnancy and not getting same naturally must meet Gynecologist or infertility specialist accepting facts that it needs many reports and different trials of treatment. Means couple must have patience and go to one in whom they have trust to stick for long time.

I am losing concentration on my subject every day. This is mainly due to dissatisfaction of my life. I have many goals and dreams but no way to pursue them. So please suggest me how to get out of depression and feel better to proceed in my life.

Set your goals in life and find out possible ways to achieve them. Write your life goals on a sheet of paper and stick it on wall where you can see it as often, keep a picture of your family with you as it will motivate you through, engage yourself in activities which you like go out travel, meet new people and you will get to understand world and things which are important to you, better.

My grand son is uncontrollable. He throws the things on slightest talking. He appears as he feeling unsecured. Doctors say that he is hyperactive for which they suggested to consult a therapist who gave some exercises to him for one hour on weekly basis for about one and a half year but we did not see improvement.

I think that your kid does have hyperactivity. My assessment is that he may have extraordinary intelligence and that he is getting frustrated with the low level of expectation on him. For that level of intelligence, he needs highly stimulating challenges to his mind. I suggest you try higher grade school material and see how he fares. Train him in some simple relaxation exercises from Yoga, to naturally calm himself down. Make him do some active exercises everyday and try to exhaust him physically. Get him some highly challenging jigsaw puzzles, some mechanical toys, and those large 3,000-piece puzzles etc. These will teach him patience, self-control, and help him to slow down too. Give him a lot of physical affection and contact. Reduce high-energy foods from his diet. Give him a lot of fiber food too. Cut out milk for some time as suggested, and see if this has any noticeable effect. If it does, then give him calcium supplements. There are some good concentration exercises that will help him too. His environment must be very stimulating to occupy his intelligent mind. If you can admit him into a Montessori school, that would be the best place for him. I really like your observational comment: ?He appears as though he is feeling insecure?This could after all be an emotional problem where he is learning an early bad habit of dealing with his fear by acting angry. You must talk to him and give him permission to share his fears or insecurities without ridiculing or demeaning him. As he talks about it, he will definitely show remarkable changes.

This may be due to pilmple pimple never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e on scars. You may have heard that applying vitamin e to a scar will help it heal faster. But according to a study, applying the nutrient directly onto a scar can actually hinder its healing, if you want medicine than, I will prescibe.

1. Use mild shampoo to wash hair (you can make your own shampoo using reetha and shikakai at home) 2. Stop using conditioners. Use natural conditioners like egg, yougurt and lemon. 3. Massage your scalp with a mix of oils like olive, coconut, sesame, castor oil at night. 4. Apply raw amla juice on hair thrice a week. 5. Rub your scalp with the juice of white onion. 6. Use a paste of bhringraj on hair. 7. You can use some good hair packs like - fenugreek and yogurt, egg and green tea. 8. You can rinse your hair with organic apple cider vinegar after washing your hair to maintain ph balance of your hair. 9. Hair health depends on the amount of protein in your diet. Foods like chicken, eggs, fish, nuts, dry fruits gives you the required nutrients to keep your skin and hair healthy. So consume plenty of them. Eat things rich in vitamin c like amla and oranges. 10. Drink lots of water to flush out toxins from the body.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Mouth smell could be due to bad oral hygiene, dental problem, tonsil problem or stomach problem - she should brush teeth after every meal or at least twice a day, do flossing, do Listerine solution gargles twice a day - use a tongue cleaner to clean the back of the tongue twice a day - get checked by dentist for any dental cavity or gap in between teeth where food gets stuck - avoid raw onion, garlic, sweets, chocolates, milk products - have plenty of oral fluids including 7-8 glasses of water for proper hydration & digestion - can chew chewing gum to keep the oral cavity moist. -
