If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

I felt in an bike accident on 3 years back. At that time my 3 teeth has broken, on of the tooth has broken half and had root canal treatment to it. Now am planning to replace my broken teeth. Is bridge replacement is better for me or implantation? Amd what will be the cost for each of the treatment. Please reply me. My age is 22. This became a big problem for me :-(.

If you have root canal treatment done, why do you want to extract your tooth. If there is a problem with root canal, then go for re rct or apicectomy whatever your dentist suggests. And take a crown over RC treated tooth for looks. Go for E max if you want excellent esthetics, but try to be with your real tooth, dont get them extracted

Hi lybrate-user your post suggest that you are suffering from hemifacial hypertrophy. In this condition half of the face keeps growing and the other half doesn't. Eventually you have asymmetric face and dentition. The diagnosis needs to be confirmed for which You need to consult an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon who would advise you some tests and x-rays for proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Hope this helps.

Hi, Apply Plantago Q/ few drops on cotton swab, place it on the affected tooth/ teeth and press it tightly, do it thrice a day. Orally, take Mag. Phos. 6x/ after every 2 hours. Do visit a dentist for proper diagnosis, share the reports with me. In case possible, will help you in treating your problem. Home-Remedies: -Rub a few drops of clove oil or can even press 2-3 cloves in between the teeth on the affected tooth several times daily until the ache goes away. -Rub a few drops on the affected tooth several times daily until the ache goes away. -Apply a cool compress to outside of mouth or cheek. -Mix 1 tsp of salt in a glass of warm water. My hubby even though tks care of oral but still many times he has bad breath. What should he do?

Hello lybrate-user that's a genuine concern you have. Let's update his medical history as the problem can be elsewhere and is reflected through his mouth. Otherwise it could be local issues like food getting collected in the mouth and has now hardened into a mass, which we call as calculus. In any case you need to visit the dentist to see for gum problems and might need professional cleaning or further treatments depending on the severity of the gum disease. In any case do not delay and also motivate your hubby to visit the dentist taking the condition seriously. Cheers and god bless hope i've answered your query.

Risks of Gum Disease :
1. Heart Disease
There are several theories that exist that attempt to explain the link between periodontal disease and heart disease. One theory suggests that oral bacteria can affect the heart when they enter the blood stream, attaching to fatty plaques in the arteries and contributing to clot formation. Coronary artery disease is caused by the thickening of the walls of the coronary arteries due to the buildup of fatty acids. Blood clots obstruct the normal flow of blood and lead to neglecting the heart of necessary amounts of nutrients and oxygen required to function properly. This can eventually lead to heart attacks.
Another theory is that the inflammation caused by periodontal disease increases plaque buildup, which may be a contributor to swelling of the arteries. Research shows that people with periodontal disease are almost two times as likely to suffer from coronary artery disease as those without the condition.
2. Stroke
There are other studies that link a relationship between gum disease and stroke.
3. Pre-Term Pregnancy
According to the American Academy of Periodontology, pregnant women who have periodontal disease may be seven times more likely to have a baby that is born prematurely and too small.

Have removed two molars. Doctor suggest to implant teeth. What is the cost of implants , advantage and disadvantage ?

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Cost of implant cannot say but generally will be 25k. (10k for prosthesis) Advantages: replacement of missin teeth with fixed implant. If you don't have a posterior back tooth for support and are unable to place a bridge, better than the bridge because you don't have to grind the neighbouring teeth. Disadvantages;: cost.
