Can diabetic patient take lemon with honey in warm water daily morning? Please clarify. Thanks.
Dear lybrate-user, you are not advised to take honey with warm water. Honey contains 70 calories 10 time sugar. As a diabetic patient carry on your medicines and have physical exercise 30 minutes morning. Take 100% safe ayurveda drugs to control your sugar level. Be attentive to your daily foods. Ok.

Hi My hand got fractured and the plaster is removed yesterday. But after removing the plaster, the hand is paining a lot, not able to move. It sticked at a place. If tries to move it hurts a lot. Pls suggest.

BPT, MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy
Physiotherapist, Sangrur
Hello Lybrate user After removing POP cast exercises are must to reeducate the involving muscle and to regain the strength of muscle too.In immobilise stage or Pop cast is necessary to heal the fracture. Once fracture is healed next stage to mobilise the joint with proper exercises. First week of exercise of that joint can be painful but proper smooth movement decreases pain day by day and joint becomes painfree & actively move. Exercise with advice of qualified physiotherapist only.

Kidney Diseases - Do You Think You Know These Facts?

Kidney Diseases - Do You Think You Know These Facts?

Chronic kidney disease or CKD is the decreased function of the function of the kidney for a minimum of three months or more. In this the end stage renal disease usually refers to the end of the kidney function where the kidneys work for less than 15% of what they are supposed to. The kidneys play a vital role in the human body and if they do not function properly then a person can die. The functioning of many organs depends on the kidneys. However, the main function of the kidneys is to remove the products and regulate blood and water, control blood pressure, promote healthy and strong bones, and produce hormones.

Here are 5 facts about kidney disease you should know about:

1. Causes of the kidney disease: There are two main common causes of the end-stage kidney disease. These are preventable causes. These are diabetes and high blood pressure, but then kidney disease can be caused by other inherited diseases such as infection, trauma or polycystic kidney disease.

2. Serious Stages: The kidney disease has five stages and stage 5 is known as the end stage renal disease; this is the point where patients usually need dialysis or kidney transplant to lead a sane life. The stages of kidney disease are:

Stage 1 – Slight kidney disease
Stage 2 – Mild decrease in kidney function
Stage 3 – Moderate decrease in kidney function
Stage 4 – Severe decrease in kidney function
Stage 5 – End stage renal disease

3. Detection of the disease: Kidney disease is usually difficult to detect because of the presence of very few symptoms. Age, gender along with the blood test is one way to determine information regarding kidney function. The people who are at a risk of getting kidney disease are:

  • Over the age of 55 years
  • People who suffer from hypertension and diabetes
  • Ethnic groups such as Asians, Africans, Americans, Pacific Islanders and Hispanics

4. Signs and Symptoms: CKD is usually considered to be a silent disease and many people don’t know that they are suffering from the disease. The signs and symptoms of the disease are:

5. Renal Replacement Treatment: This is the treatment for the end stage of the kidney disease. Dialysis involves the replacement of some part of the lost function of the kidneys and is usually continued throughout life. There are 2 types of dialysis:

  • Hemodialysis: This cleans the blood via an artificial kidney which is hooked to the machine
  • Peritoneal Dialysis: This removes the excess water and waste products and cleans the blood of the body by using the peritoneal cavity as a filter.

Mr. Lybrate-user, what is your recent or present tsh level? if hypothyroidism is not in control (tsh levels should be between 3 milli units to 4 milli units/ml), the symptoms of hypothyroidism will not go away. So get the test done and report the levels. Iam sure you are following the dosing instructions properly - to be taken on empty stomach, early morning and nothing to be eaten for next 2 hours. Plus you have to avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, mustard, peanuts and coffee. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads, fruits. Use whole grain flour for making chapati and roti. Plus exercise for 1 hour a day in order to avoid weight gain. Regurgitation can be helped by regular exercise, further after food stay upright for about 3 hours. Take more frequent but smaller meals in a day. Also avoid spicy and high fat foods that will help reduce regurgitation. Occasionally can take antacids.

Sneezing, sore throat, a stuffy nose, coughing - everyone knows the symptoms of the common cold. It is probably the most common illness. In the course of a year, people in the united states suffer 1 billion colds. What can you do for your cold or cough symptoms? besides drinking plenty of fluids and getting plenty of rest, you may want to take medicines. There are lots of different cold and cough medicines, and they do different things. Nasal decongestants - unclog a stuffy nose...i.e ................ nasal dop/spray.....nasivion Cough suppressants - quiet a cough...................................... syp. Brozedax Expectorants - loosen mucus so you can cough it up.............syp...zeet expectorant Antihistamines - stop runny noses and sneezing.....................tab/syp....levocetirizine Pain relievers - ease fever, headaches, and minor aches and pains.......tab..flucold plus . Here are some other things to keep in mind about cold and cough medicines. Read labels, because many cold and cough medicines contain the same active ingredients. The above cough with noisy breathing with sputum and chest pain is suggestive of acute Bronchitis. This may be associated with an obstruction in the air passages.(bronchospasm) and lead to chest pain also. However a chest xray, formal chest examination by a trained doctor and sputum test needs to be done. You may get in touch on private consult/audio consult for a better answer or remedy. Take care.
