Menstrual cycle is an important part in a woman?s life. Whether it is beginning of periods at puberty or menarche or its cessation at menopause- all of it are important phases for her.
Normally the menstrual cycle begins by the age of sixteen and continues till fifties, after which it ceases and menopause happens. Twenties and early thirties mark the most fertile period in a woman?s life. But sometimes certain problems occur in the periods. It causes discomfort, pain and hormonal imbalance in the body. Let us know the common menstrual problems and their home remedies:
A) Amenorrhea is a condition when there is an absence of menstrual cycle. It is of two types:
Primary Amenorrhea: It happens when the menstrual cycle either fails to begin at puberty by the age of sixteen years in girls.
Secondary amenorrhea: It happens when the menstrual cycle stops for six months or more in a woman who has been menstruating regularly before. It may be a temporary or a permanent condition. Pregnancy is an example of temporary secondary amenorrhea. It can also occur due the following reasons:
Use of birth control pills
Anorexia nervosa
Hormonal imbalance
Ovarian cysts or tumours
Obesity
Rapid weight loss
Use of drugs
Emotional stress
Depression
Permanent secondary amenorrhea occurs at menopause or if the woman gets hysterectomy done.
A pelvic exam is done to diagnose amenorrhea and to rule out pregnancy, congenital or ovarian anomalies.
Natural home remedies to treat Amenorrhea:
Have a glassful freshly squeezed beet root juice daily.
Boil half a teaspoon of saffron in a glass of water. Reduce it to a concentrate and take one third part thrice a day.
Drink a glassful of tomato juice thrice day.
Take 3-6 grams of organic Majishtha powder to treat amenorrhea.
Take 250 ml of water and add 6 grams flaxseeds to it. Boil it for ten minutes and add 10 grams clarified butter (or ghee) and 20 grams jaggery to it. Take it at bedtime.
Eat foods rich in Vitamin C like oranges, berries and grapes.
B) Dysmenorrhea is a condition of painful menstrual cycles. The discomfort begins prior to or during periods. It may diminish in intensity after 25 years of age or after delivery. It is of two types:
Primary Dysmenorrhea occurs due to hormonal imbalance that causes contraction of the uterus.
Secondary Dysmenorrhea happens due to any of the following reasons:
Pelvic inflammatory disease
IUD or intrauterine device
Endometriosis
Fibroids in the uterus
Natural remedies to treat Dysmenorrhea:
Take half a teaspoon of crushed sesame seeds with warm water twice a day to ease the cramps.
Drink the decoction of ginger root tea to treat painful periods.
Drink chamomile tea twice a day to relieve menstrual cramps.
Boil 1-2 pods of garlic in water. Sip this water thrice a day.
Take 3 grams of organic Shatavari powder with warm milk sweetened with raw sugar daily to relive painful periods.
Fry a couple of pinches of asafoetida in clarified butter and take this thrice a day.
Eat foods rich in calcium like spinach, kale, broccoli etc, and also foods rich in antioxidants like cherries, tomatoes, strawberries etc.
Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of flaxseed powder in your soups, salads or curd daily to reduce hormonal imbalance that causes painful cramps.
Drink a mixture of two teaspoons of basil leaves? juice and hot water thrice a day.

C) Menorrhagia is the excessive loss of blood during the menstrual cycle. Too much blood loss may happen over more than seven day period, or in greater than 80 ml of blood loss or both. It may happen due to the following reasons:
Endometriosis
Hormonal imbalance
Early miscarriage
Too much exertion due to stress or travel

I have completed 4year in my married life nowi planned for a baby so what can I do.
You can try for spontaneous conception (try to have intercourse during fertile period that is from 10 th to 17 th day, if you have not tried at all till now. If it's more than one year since you have been trying for a baby, then some tests will be required like husbands semen analysis, wife's ovulation studies, tube test, hormonal tests and endometrial (uterine lining) studies.

Yes, she's is in Menopausal stage. In case the menses are quite heavy, then need to look into the matter or else consult a Gynaecologist! Ask her to take homoeopathic Biochemic medicine: Five Phos - thrice a day for 1 month (it contains calcium, iron; so, in case she's already on them, need no to take this). Revert me back.

IUI Vs IVF - Understand the Difference!

IUI Vs IVF - Understand the Difference!

Infertility is an issue that arises when a couple is not able to conceive even after having intercourse without protection for a period of up to or beyond 12 months. This problem can be in the male or female or in both partners. While there are many kinds of treatment methods that can be used to treat and manage infertility to help a couple conceive naturally, there are also many instances where the couple may have to go in for other semi invasive methods that can be used in extreme cases. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) are two methods that are used in such cases. Let us understand both the methods and the difference between the two.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI):  It is a process wherein the woman’s womb is injected with motile sperm. This method is done in keeping with the ovulation cycle of the woman, and it may be conducted a few times in the days, right after the ovulation starts. The process of ovulation is usually diagnosed by a doctor and the insemination process is timed accordingly.

In vitro Fertilization (IVF): It is a process that is slightly more complex than IUI. It is one of the most successful methods that is in use for couples who have tried every other kind of treatment for infertility. In this process, the eggs are retrieved from the ovary and then harvested. This is done with the help of a process of stimulation of the ovaries. The fertilization of the eggs happens in a lab.

Insemination process: While the motile sperm is injected in the woman’s womb during the process of IUI, in IVF, the process is slightly different. In this case, the eggs are fertilized in a lab so as to form embryos. These are then placed in the woman’s uterus.

Preparation: While IUI needs a proper process of studying the ovulation cycle of the woman so as to detect the same, in IVF, the process of ovulation has to be stimulated using hormonal injections and other types of drugs so as to extract eggs that need to be fertilised. In this case, IVF tends to be a more intense method of treatment.

Chances of pregnancy: In IUI, the chances of pregnancy depends on whether or not the fallopian tubes pick up the sperm and whether or not the egg and sperm meet each other. In IVF, the chances of pregnancy depends on the age of the woman as well as the causes behind infertility. Also, the efficacy of IVF depends from patient to patient and also on the quality of the IVF laboratory where the treatment happens. In IUI, the practices are more standard. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an IVF Specialist.

Female Masturbation - 3 Physical Benefits

Female Masturbation - 3 Physical Benefits

Masturbation is a wonderful way to explore your physicality which is healthy as well as beneficial. According to research, women who masturbate regularly are likely to enjoy better sex lives with their partners and are more self confident in nature. Women who indulge in masturbation enjoy a wealth of physical as well as mental health benefits. Following are the benefits that you should be aware of:

Physical benefits of female masturbation:

  1. Prevention of infections: Female masturbation is very important as it prevents cervical infections and also relieves you from infections in the urinary tract. Recent studies suggest that masturbation helps relieve you from pain caused by urinary tract infections. It lubricates the vagina and eliminates harmful bacteria from the cervix.
  2. Better cardiovascular health: Masturbating promotes improvement in cardiovascular health and also effectively lowers the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. It has been observed that women who masturbate regularly are less vulnerable to coronary heart disease and overall have a better immune system.
  3. Prevents insomnia: Masturbation can be a natural way to prevent insomnia as there is a subsequent release of hormones and stress involved. During masturbation the hormone called Dopamine increases as the process reaches climax. After orgasm, the hormones called oxytocin are released along with endorphins which consequently help you to sleep better.

Psychological or mental benefits of masturbation:

  1. Improves mood and busts stress: Masturbation helps you get rid of depressed feelings and in turn positively affects your sexual life with your partner. It improves your mood and is considered an effective stress buster without any associated side effects.
  2. Helps you accept yourself: Accepting your sexuality is very important as it makes you aware of your body and makes you comfortable with it. It strengthens your love for yourself and increases your confidence. Paying attention to your sexual desires and fulfilling them yourselves is pleasurable as well as healthy. Masturbation can help you know your physical needs and relieve stress associated to your personal and professional life. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.
