lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Milk drinking is not prohibited in patients with hypothyroidism. You can take as much as you desire. Only thing is high fat cheese is not good. Even milk with low fat or without creme should be taken. Thanks.

Hello, Gaining weight is a slow process which requires patience and dedication! The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! For increasing your weight, concentrate on the below points ( if you don’t have any medical condition) which helps in gaining weight in a right way without harming your body. ­ Consume more healthy fats. Foods containing healthy fats are full of nutrients and also high in calories, making them a great option for weight gain. Foods containing plant fats should be your first option ­ this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Foods containing healthy animals fats include lean meats and full fat dairy products ­ although if you have high cholesterol, you should probably stick to low­fat options. ­Eat more protein. Good sources of protein include lean meat, fish and poultry, in addition to eggs, whole grains, dairy products and legumes. ­Drink more calories. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full­cream milk throughout the day.Protein shakes will help you to gain muscle mass, particularly if you're working out. ­Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. ­Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin­ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. This is where protein shakes and bars really come in handy. ­Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. ­Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy ­ eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. ­Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. ­Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos., both thrice daily 1⁄2 an hour before meals for a month and reply back again.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Hi boil 1 ripe banana in 1 cup of milk, mash well. Take 3-4 times a day. Make an ointment by mixing an equal amount of powdered long pepper and turmeric with milk (preferably cow’s milk). Apply this on the external piles. Take arshantak vati 1-1 twice a day with warm water. And take pranacharya pilescure capsule 1-1 twice a day. And abhayarishta 2-2 tsf twice a day. Apply pranacharya pilescure ointment on piles. If stomach is not clear them take virechan churna 1 tsf in warm water before night. Take fresh buttermilk early morning. Avoid spicy food. Junk food. As long as your blood sugar is under control, you can participate in everything. Uncontrolled diabetics have a higher tendency for fungal infections hence use a protection when not trying for a baby.

I am doing exercise daily to lose weight but nothing effect to see What should I do?
You need to have a diet and exercise plan based on your bmi, age & weight and sex, presence of any diseases. Please note that weight reduction cannot be achieved overnight or over a week/month as many ask. It is an ongoing process of reducing food intake and exercising to burn the calories you consume. There are exercises specific for each part of body like cheek, hips, thighs or abdomen/ buttocks, or chest. Comprehensive exercise& diet plan based on whether vegetarian /non vegetarian can be given. May also need to do some tests. In brief, weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs / chest etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/2 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. And do aerobic exercises, running, jogging or at least walking briskly 3-5 kms and swimming if possible, and in a gym if feasible. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise & dieting to take just as mush food as needed for your activities. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. By cutting 500 calories a day (a total of 3500 per week), and otherwise eating a balanced diet, you may find you lose approximately a pound a week. This rate of weight loss is considered reasonable and healthy. A diet chart timing foods to eat calories early morning lukewarm water with lemon 1 glass 0 tea without sugar + 2 biscuits 90 breakfast 2 rotis + 1/2 cup paneer curry 330 or brown bread upma 1 plate + milk 1 cup 300 mid-morning1 banana/1/2 cup melon/20 grapes 50 lunchbrown rice 1 cup (195 gm) + mixed vegetables 1/2 cup + salad 1 bowl + raita 1 small bowl 345 evening buttermilk 1 cup 35 dinner2 rotis + vegetable soup 1 bowl + salad 1 bowl 370 total 1220/1190 cal.

Planning for conceiving a baby does not give any problem during the time period. But yes mean while during your pregnancy time in that 9-10 months back pain might increase a lot too. You can start you back treatment with proper physiotherapy sessions and mean while you can plan for a baby simultaneously.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Stop eating at uncertified eating houses or at roadside. Stop spicy food because your system is irritated by it. Do not take Loperamide routinely, it is not good. You may need a prescription for which you will have to consult privately.

As per Ayurveda, Pimples & Acne are mainly due to incorrect Daily routine & improper dietary habits generate toxins in the blood & skin which ultimately results in Pimples / Acne and other skin problems. Stress, Pollution & other factors also affects skin health. General Prevention: 1.Take healthy food and avoid unhealthy ones as what you eat is reflected on your face! 2.Avoid Junk Food, Oily & Spicy food, excessive coffee/tea. If you are giving formula feed you should never give in bottle with nipple. Instead give from cup with spoon. You can start giving smashed home made foods.
