Virechan n raktmokshan panchkarm treatment of Ayurveda will help you the most. Apply satdaut grith ointment locally 3-4 times a day. Triphala choorn-3 gm arogyawardani vati-2 tab thrice a day before food with 1 glass lukewarm water. Khadiraritam -20 ml twice a day with equal amount of lukewarm water after food.

All About Knee Replacement

Knee replacement is a surgery wherein an artificial joint is used to replace a diseased, damaged or worn out knee. This surgery is common among people who fall in the age group of 60-80, but recent trends seem to suggest that younger people are opting for this surgery as well. The lifetime of the artificial knee joint is around 20 years, provided the knee is well cared for.

Why do you need Knee Replacement?

Most common reason is “high grade osteoarthritis” due to wear and tear of the knee joint. The pre-hospital study of the Knee joint is mandatory and would decide what kind of Replacement is suitable to the patient. If there is diabetes or hypertension associated with this, then it should be controlled well before undergoing surgery. Hemoglobin of at least 10 gm% is required.

If the mobility in your knee joint is reduced leading to impaired functioning of the knee joint, then you might need a knee replacement surgery. You may experience pain while walking, sitting and, in some cases, resting as well.

Some of the common reasons why you may opt for this particular surgery are:

  1. Gout, where, small crystals are formed inside the joint.
  2. Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disorder, wherein the immune system of the body attacks the body’s healthy tissues.
  3. Hemophilia, wherein, the blood ceases to clot normally.
  4. Injuries to the knee
  5. Disorders that cause unusual bone growth (bone dysplasias)
  6. Death of bone in the knee joint following blood supply problems (avascular necrosis)
  7. Knee deformity with pain and loss of cartilage
  8. Unusual growth of bones in the knee joint

Knee replacement surgery is classified into:

1. Partial Knee Replacement: In this surgery, only one part of the joint is replaced.

2. Total Knee Replacement: Total knee replacement surgery involves replacement of both sides of the knee joint.

The usual hospital stay period is around 2-3 days after the surgery is completed. Initially, you will require the help of crutches to walk for at least 2 months. You may also be asked to do gentle knee strengthening exercises. It may take up to two years to recover completely from a knee replacement surgery. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a orthopedist.

You neck pain causes could likely be: 1> Poor Posture - during sleep /during work 2> Muscle strain. Treatment: * Give your muscles a break - When you lie down, Make sure your head in a neutral position and that you’ve got a comfortable pillow. More rest is often the best remedy even if you just rolled out of bed. * Avoid activities such as lifting and sports that make pain worse. * Do stretching and strengthening exercises to keep your neck flexible and strong and prevent stiffness. * Avoid or change any activities that may be causing your neck pain, such as sitting for a long time at the computer or doing too much overhead work at a time. * Gently massage or rub the area to relieve pain and encourage blood flow. NOTE: In case you smoke then - Smoking slows healing because it decreases blood supply and delays tissue repair.

Posture is the most important cause of backache at this age. Please work on that. Bent back while sitting is bad. U must keep your back straight. In case you are in right posture you should make sure where exactly is the pain. Near to hip region indicates lumbar sprain. Diffuse pain indicates over exertion.

I have been operated on my spine d10 a legion had grown Dr. Told that I would walk within 2 days but I could not stand I was on the bed for 6 months. I had to do phisotherapy then on now i'm walking but not a normal walk stiffness is there in my legs & lower back &my walk is not normal i'm not stable &also having continuation till now my medication has been stopped since 6 months I only take medicine for my blood pressure so Dr. What can you advice me to get my normal walk thanks.

Sir, I have stopped eating bananas when I was of 2 years because at that time my mother made me eat banana in excess. I eruct and never ate again. But due to less weight dietitian recommend me to eat pair of banana with milk in the morning. But I hate the smell of bananas so instead I started taking banana shake in the evening. But after 30 minutes I had a severe back pain. I tried it for two days. But pain was too much to bear. So I stopped taking shake. I would like to know why my stomach is not digesting the shake. Can it be some problem?

Hi, no correlation to bananna and back pain. Some times gastritis, renal stones may radiates to back. R there any pain with bending or any leg pain. Pl contact general physican to rule out other causes. Take plenty of water and simple analgesic if pain is more. Tq.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Back pain may be due to strain, sprain, weather change etc. *Avoid bending forward while working on lap top or for any other work. *Don’t sit continuously working on laptop etc. Get up periodically and move around. *Restrict bike driving as far as possible. *Don’t carry laptop or any load on your shoulder. Carrying very light loads equally with both hands is better *Sit straight so that back bone gets proper support. A dining chair is better than a laid back sofa. *You can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good *Soft bed will not give proper support to your back bone. Hard bed with thin mattress and thin pillow is better. *Get yourself tested whether you have spondylitis problem. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take Calc fluor 200--once daily in the morning.
