I am suffering with CVD with multiple blockages. I am taking non invasive treatment at pune. Dr. Vikranth latte telling that I will be okay after 2 months with his treatment. 15 days over. Slight recovery is there. Can you suggest me whether I am following correct way or not?

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Treatment for multiple blockages of heart is only bypass surgery but people get scared of it and seek other therapies & waste lots of time. Please go to a reputed heart hospital and get operated.

Seems to be more of a psychiatric disorder probably somatoform disorder but cannot comment without detailed history and clinical examination and review of reports. Better to follow up with a single physician to observe and advise accordingly. Sometimes, all symptoms of a disease do not show up at one time only.

My triglycerides level was 291 before 10 days when I checked my lipid profile. So Dr. suggest me to take roseday f 5.and I am taking that drug after dinner. Now my question is that can I take whisky when I am taking this drug? Is it harmful for me? Pls suggest.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Hi. thankyou for the query. Alcohol will not only interact with your medication but it will also increase your triglyceride levels further. Please avoid alcohol before it further complicates your condition. Just taking medication will not solve your problem. You need to improve your diet and lifestyle.

Hello T-wave inversion is associated with coronary artery disease which may result from myocardial ischemia (ie, unstable angina),I think if you are in doubt you can have a second opinion from some other cardiologist & then decide accordingly. Thanks

I am 23 years old man. My weight is about 78 kg I wanna lose ma extra cholesterol. What to do?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
High cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take green veg., whole grain.garlic,. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

Gaanth means a lump or a nodule. You need to be investigated by mammography or ultrasound of breast and fine needle biopsy of the gaanth, the nodules. Get blood tested for anemia and infection and sugar. Bp can be controlled by medicine but do get checked for nodules in breast and get back here with reports. You will get more guidance.

I am suffering from dry cough for the last two weak and I have chest pain whenever I cough hard can you suggest what should be done.

Diploma in Hospital Administration, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
common causes of dry coughs are as follows: Viral infections we know as the common cold and flu. Allergies can also lead to a dry cough. Asthma,Hay fever, an allergy to grass and tree pollen, causes irritation to the eyes and nose and when the throat is affected, a cough results. Sensitivity to other particles such as animal fur, known as allergic rhinitis. Air pollutants can irritate the back of the throat causing a cough. This is the situation seen when non-smokers enter a smoky room. Treatment depends upon the underlying cause of dry cough. Home remedies such as honey soothe the lining of the tissues at the back of the throat. Conventional medicines such as cough suppressants reduce the activity of the cough reflex.

Hello sir I am 33 year old man I have low blood pressure problem last five months what should I do please help me doctor.

MBBS, MD - Community Medicine
General Physician, Jaipur
Depending on the cause of your symptoms, your doctor may tell you to increase your blood pressure by making these simple changes: Eat a diet higher in salt. Drink lots of nonalcoholic fluids/ especially salty drink e.g. salty lassi, salty lemon water, et.c. Limit alcoholic beverages. Drink more fluids during hot weather and while sick with a viral illness, such as a cold or the flu. Get regular exercise to promote blood flow. Be careful when rising from lying down or sitting. To help improve circulation, pump your feet and ankles a few times before standing up. Then proceed slowly. When getting out of bed, sit upright on the edge of the bed for a few minutes before standing. Elevate the head of your bed at night by placing bricks or blocks under the head of bed. Avoid heavy lifting. Avoid straining while on the toilet. Avoid prolonged exposure to hot water, such as hot showers and spas. If you get dizzy, sit down. It may be helpful to keep a chair or stool in the shower in case you need to sit; to help prevent injury, use a nonslip chair or stool designed for use in showers and bath tubs. To avoid problems with low blood pressure and lessen episodes of dizziness after meals, try eating smaller, more frequent meals. Cut back on carbohydrates. Rest after eating. Avoid taking drugs to lower blood pressure before meals. If needed, use elastic support (compression) stockings that cover the calf and thigh. These may help restrict blood flow to the legs, thus keeping more blood in the upper body.

Weight loss will help him solve most of the problems. Ask him to follow a healthy diet & lifestyle regimen. He should increase his physical activity level. Regular 1 hr brisk walk in morning will be good. Having small frequent meals at regular intervals instead of 3-4 large ones is essential. He should eat slowly & chew food well. Take stairs instead of lift & walk instead of hiring transport. Avoid junk/ processed/ packaged/ sugary/ fired foods, soft & hard drinks, refined carbs (sugar, potato, white rice, sabudana, jaggery, honey, noodles, white bread, biscuit, cake). Instead have plenty of whole fruits & vegetables. Include whole grains (atta, dalia, suji, jowar, bajra, barley, oats, brown rice) vitamin d- sunlight exposure between 12-2 for 20 mins, shiitake mushrooms, fatty fish, cod oil capsule (2 daily post meal). Uric acid- avoid seafood, chicken. Include low fat dairy (curd, buttermilk, lassi, channa, milk). Not more than 1 bowl pulse a day. Maintain optimal body weight. Cholesterol- weight loss, avoid- yolk portion of egg, red meat, saturated fats, trans fats, fried foods.

Dear Lybrate user: heart palpitation is the sensation that your heart has skipped a beat or added an extra beat. It may feel like your heart is racing, pounding, or fluttering. You may become overly aware of your heartbeat. This sensation is sometimes also felt in the neck, throat, or chest. While you’re experiencing palpitations, your heart rhythm may or may not be abnormal. Most heart palpitations are harmless and resolve on their own without treatment. Rarely, heart palpitations can indicate a serious condition. Seek medical attention right away if you have heart palpitations and a diagnosed heart problem or if you have palpitations that occur with other symptoms such as: dizziness lightheadedness fainting a loss of consciousness confusion difficulty breathing excessive sweating pain, pressure, or tightening in your chest pain in your arms, neck, chest, jaw, or upper back a resting pulse rate of more than 100 beats per minute.
