- use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water or hydrogen peroxide to keep the area clean. Avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums. - eat a balanced diet and limit snacking between meals. Carbohydrates and sugars feed dental plaque. - try an oral irrigation device, commonly known as a" water pick, to clear debris from around the gum line. - you may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser.

Start taking Capsule SM fibro twice a day for at least a month and if there is some improvement then can continue for another 2 months. And obviously refrain from chewing tobacco which is the causative factor for your limited mouth opening. Tobacco causes mouth cancer. Your condition can be pre-cancerous in nature. So quit it.

We Look forward to beautiful smiles and any difference in color or any darkness in color of your teeth, they bother you. We all look forward to have a white sparkling smile. Now today, to have this smile is pretty easy. We are worried about yellow teeth. Why do our teeth turn yellow? That is the biggest thing to understand first. The color of your teeth may change because of staining of your teeth, which may happen because of sudden food habits, tobacco use, excess of tea, coffees, colas. These stains can be easily removed by a simple cleaning up procedure of your teeth, wherein your dentist clean up the surface of your teeth and polish them giving you a sparkling smile. Many at times, you have situation wherein your teeth are yellow from inside. Now today, they’re not difficult to clean, you’ve whitening procedures. You can just get your teeth bleached professionally, which is a combination of a office bleach, wherein your dentist bleaches in the chair and maybe follow it up with some home bleaching program. Properly done, these treatments can give you good lasting results for years together. You may end up having good white teeth for five to six years at a stretch. In some cases you may have difficult stains which happen because of fluoride. These are termed as fluorosis. In very rare cases, you may need to hide those stains, which again is very simple using dental veneers or some bonding procedures, wherein some tooth colored material is placed on top of your tooth to hide those stains. So, please don’t get depressed having dark teeth, you still can have a white sparkling smile anytime you want.

I think you have acidity problem. So you have repeatidly suffering from mouth ulcer. Maintain your oral hygiene, brush your teeth twice daily, clean your tongue properly with tongue cleaner. Consult to your physician for your acidity problem (if you have).

Dear Doctor, I am suffering from lichen planus (mouth) for 06 months. Please suggest me which Doctor should I consult. As presently I have consulted a dermatologist and he prescribed me following medicine. 1. Medrol 20 - BD 2. Clobestol cream - for locl application BD 3. zinetac 150 - BD Please help and guide.

Hello lybrate-user See as you must be already knowing, any medicine intake should be avoided in first 3 months of pregnancy as it can have harmful effects on baby. So, try avoid taking any medicine. What you can do is do "Cold fomentation" that is keep ice at the site of erupting tooth intermittently. Once tooth erupts completely, you will have relief in your pain.

Wisdom teeth are generally not useful to the fullest during chewing food. Hence if all other teeth if your mouth are in relatively good health and only wisdom teeth are loosening or giving a problem, you can get them removed. If other teeth in your mouth are also not healthy, then maybe your gums are not healthy and need a gum treatment for restoring their health.

Learn The Ideal Brushing Habits!

Brushing too hard.

All of us have heard by now that brushing hard may not be the solution to our dental woes.Going the soft gentle and frequent way is what we need to do so if you're still in the habit of waging a morning battle with your teeth let's try and remind ourselves to be gentle and clean them like porcelain not scrub them like the toilet bowl. 

Hardly brushing.

If you're in the habit of hardly brushing which means either brushing too quickly or brushing just once a day it can cost you! 

As food accumulates and bacteria breakdown this accumulated food into acids which dissolve enamel -cavities are formed. These cavities need dental visits to fill up.

If small they can be done sooner and economically but if large they can end up causing you a lot of pain and even requiring multiple avoidable sittings.

Brushing with hard bristles.

Hard bristles tend to damage the teeth and we see multiple patients with severely work down teeth by just self inflicted brushing damage. Imagine thinking you're preventing a problem and actually creating one. While we commend the efforts of anyone who looks after their oral health we also ensure that overzealous brushes should use nothing more than extra soft bristles.

Not replacing your brush.

Replacing your brush is the most neglected aspect of oral hygiene that leaves everyone guessing  and being a small detail even your dentist would most likely forget to discuss it. So here's the answer to your dilemma of when to replace your brush - ideally every 3-4 months or when the bristles start to fray whichever happens first. 

Replacing brushes or brush heads has even proven to reduce throat infections as old bristles tend to start harbouring bacteria besides being inefficient at cleaning as well.

Not flossing.

Flossing hasn't been in our culture or education. We probably encountered a floss much later than we saw or learnt to use a brush. It's very important that just like brushing is second nature to us or comes automatically so should flossing be taught and instilled in our system. 

Flossing prevents the most number of cavities even more than brushing since not all brushes reach the areas that entrap food but floss definitely does. 

It is ideally recommended to start your cleaning routine by flossing and then brushing. 

An inexpensive method to save a lot of time and dental costs.
