5 Telltale Signs of Hearing Loss

5 Telltale Signs of Hearing Loss

Ageing is not the only factor that brings hearing impairment. The causes are many. Certain medications, continuous exposure to loud noise, genetic involvement, injury and some medical conditions may cause hearing loss.

But if you think that you are facing hearing issues, then these symptoms should raise an alarm for you to see an ENT specialist:

  1. You find it hard to hear phone conversations: Do you find yourself asking the person on the other end of the phone line to 'repeat' themselves, or find yourself pressing the phone instrument right into your ear? If you are trying so hard to hear, you might find yourself missing out on bits of the conversation as focussing to clearly hear the conversation is exhausting work. Getting a hearing test might be a good option if this sounds like you.
  2. Your TV is blaring: Do you often find people around you shouting above the TV sound complaining that it's too loud? When you find it hard to hear the TV at the average volume and find yourself turning up the sound, this could signify a hearing loss. Doctors are seeing a growing number of patients visiting them after prolonged exposure to loud music and sounds.
  3. You have trouble hearing in noisy environments: When you are out dining with friends or family at a busy restaurant or accompanying a friend shopping in a busy street, all that background noise makes it difficult to hear what the people are saying. People with hearing loss often have problems masking out background noise.
  4. You find yourself leaning closer to people to follow the conversation or staring at their lips trying to lip-read what's being said.
  5. Family members telling 'you're going deaf'?: Trust the views of the people closest to you, they never lie about your health. Family members often are the first to sense signs of hearing loss as they find themselves repeating things to you or calling out louder to get your 'attention'.

I have taken so many medicine like antibiotic ,anti-alergy, gargle etc... But not going away permanently. So I d'nt have any problem. Can You Suggest me

FCCP (USA), MD - Pulmonary Medicine
Pulmonologist, Indore
Sir Pharyngitis is inflammation of pharynx which you call sore throat. What I am getting from your history is you may have tonsillitis. If it is not getting done by antibiotics, better meet ENT surgeon and get it removed or biopsied The lab report will confirm it's nature and will decide further course of action. ... Best wishes

It might be a case of scabies, stay clean, shower properly, get your bedsheets and blankets washed and consult a doctor on lybrate or near your home, a cream and a tablet will be enough.

I have suffering from piles or bhagander. Since last 2 year. But only some time I have pain when I eat spices. I need your help which kind of medicine is good foe this. Coz I dont want to do operations.

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
In the majority of cases, piles resolve on their own without the need for any treatment. Treatments can help significantly reduce the discomfort and itching that many patients experience Diet - piles can be caused by too much straining when doing bowel movements, which is the result of constipation. A change in diet can help keep the stools regular and soft. This involves eating more fiber, such as fruit and vegetables, or switching your cereal breakfast to bran. Water is the best drink, and the patient may be advised to increase his/her water consumption. Some experts say too much caffeine is not good. Body weight - if the patient is obese, losing weight may help reduce the incidence and severity of hemorrhoids. Simple things you can do yourself to help prevent piles: Try not to strain when you go to the toilet Avoid laxatives Exercis take tab pilex 1tab tds, anovate cream locally inside anus, siltz bath [hot water in a tub, add kmno4 in it, sit 1/2 an hr in tub, it will help.Avoid spicy ,Drink 3- 4 Litre of Water Daily. welcome for further help. or go for surgery

Sir I am suffering from fever I used a lot oof medicines but no use please solve my problem.
Perhaps you have not used the basic principle of fever eradication which is deepan, shodhan, pachan. Simply boil ginger, peepal chhoti, tulsi, kali mirch in water or milk and drink thrice day. Also take liquid ashwagandharishta 20 ml tds with equal water for a week n report happily.

She's having pain in her stomach n its a little bit blotted. What can she do to stop it?

She's having pain in her stomach n its a little bit blotted. What can she do to stop it?
Stomach bloating is caused mainly because of air swallowing known as erophagia. The other causes are irritable bowel syndrome, dyspepsia, constipation ,celiac disease, sprue, bowel obstruction etc If you do regular exercises, then it will be useful to alleviate from the symptoms and still if you are having abdominal bloating or distension then you should start some medication like proton pump inhibitors, avoid excess carbohydrates and fatty foods, avoid oily and spicy foods. You should go to gastroenterologist who will take complete medical history with thoroughly clinical examination and can order investigation like complete hemogram, blood electrolytes, ultrasound of abdomen and upper GI scopy if required. The definitive treatment will depend upon the underlying cause. Regards,

Hello- You are suffering from Phimosis (tight foreskin). It is the technical term for an un-retractable foreskin. The foreskin of the penis is not retractable in an infant or a young child. This is considered to be a normal part of development. As the child grows into puberty the foreskin naturally separates itself from the head of the penis, allowing for complete retraction. An acute case of phimosis may create problems for the person when he would want to pass urine or to perform sex, as this action may either be restricted or become troublesome. This is when phimosis becomes a medical emergency. If you looking for a permanent solution for your tight foreskin, yes it is possible with Ayurveda. Surgery (circumcision) can be avoided.

Hi and thanks for asking a question. Dear lybrate user if your diabetes is not controlled by taking insulin. So I am suggesting you some thing which must you do which can help you in lowering you blood sugar. Rx if you are injecting insulin at one site for a long time you must change that site because there can be fatty deposits which lower functioning of insulin. You should always check your glucose level. Lower sugary diet. No carbohydrate. No fried foods and junks. More green vegetables and fruits. And despite if it is not lowering then you must visit some medical officer (doctor) for your better treatment. Thanks.
