Treating Children's Problems With Homeopathy

During the early growing years, children are prone to a lot of airway problems, including asthma, tonsillitis, and sinusitis. Their immunity is also low, which contributes makes them prone to develop these infections very easily.

Homoeopathy is believed to be a milder form of treatment with minimal side effects and also get rid of the underlying medical condition and also improve their immunity. Read on to know more about these conditions and what products homoeopathy uses.

  1. Asthma: Asthma is a common condition with wheezing episodes and difficulty breathing. Asthma attacks can be triggered by emotional stress, change of weather, occupational effects, family history of atopic diseases. Some of the commonly used homoeopathic medicines include Ipecac, Arsenicum, Nux Vomica, Natrum sulphuricum, and Kali bichromicum. The weather of the place you reside and the time of the attacks also have a major role to play in choosing the right component.
  2. Adenoids: This is the group of lymph tissue that is hidden behind the roof of the mouth. Their infection causes pain, fever, difficulty breathing, sinus infections, and snoring. Hydrastis, Calcarea phosphorica, Agraphis nutan, Tuberculinum, and Cistus Canadensis are some of the most frequently used compounds to treat enlarged adenoids. Managing adenoid infection can be useful in preventing adenoid surgery, which is very frequently done.
  3. Nasal Polyps: These are overgrowths of the nasal mucosa, and they lead to blocked nose, frequent sneezing, and nasal voice. The associated symptoms of loss of smell, bleeding, nasal obstruction, distension of the nose, will decide the right compound for you. Calcarea Carb, phosphorus, conium, Teucrium Marum Varum, Hekla Lava are commonly used to manage nasal polyps without having to go through surgical removal.
  4. DNS: The right and left nostrils are separated by a thin layer of bone and cartilage called the nasal septum. When this layer is not at the centre, but deviated to the right or left, it can cause breathing problems, nasal congestion, and sometimes pain and nosebleeds. In some people, this could also be a cosmetic issue with the external nose also looking crooked. Sangunaira, Aconite, Ars alb, Thuja, Tuber, Teucr mer are some compounds which produce good results.
  5. Tonsillitis: The tonsils are lymphatic tissue in the back of the throat, and due to various reasons, there can be attacks of acute or chronic tonsillitis. Baryta Carbonica, Calcarea phosphorica, Bromine, Calcarea iodata, and Lycopodium are frequently used to manage tonsillitis without having to remove them.
  6. Sinusitis: There are 4 major sinuses in the facial region and depending on the sinus affected, there can be heavy-headedness, blocked nose, facial bone pain, runny nose and pain between the eyes. Silicea, Merc Sol, Belladonna, Pulsatilla, and Kali Bichrome are effectively used to treat chronic sinusitis symptoms.

Most of the airway passage conditions in children can be treated with homoeopathic medications with minimal side effects and reducing the need for surgery. It is very important to understand that each child is unique and the right regime will be drawn up after a detailed discussion about history, accompanying symptoms, and predisposition to the condition. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a homeopath.

Milk based diet till 22 months is really not good. If you r bottle feeding stop it immediately. Give her regular diet as we eat but with lesser spices. U can give regular cows milk only twice a day in a glass. Bottle is habit forming and has many disadvantages. Particularly in summers give more water. Fluids. Juice. Along with balanced diet.

Thumbsucking is a natural reflex for children. Sucking on thumbs, fingers, pacifiers or other objects may make babies feel secure and happy and help them learn about their world. Young children may also suck to soothe themselves and help them fall asleep.
However, after the permanent teeth come in, sucking may cause problems with the proper growth of the mouth and alignment of the teeth. It can also cause changes in the roof of the mouth. Pacifiers can affect the teeth essentially the same ways as sucking fingers and thumbs, but it is often an easier habit to break. The intensity of the sucking is a factor that determines whether or not dental problems may result. If children rest their thumbs passively in their mouths, they are less likely to have difficulty than those who vigorously suck their thumbs. Some aggressive thumbsuckers may develop problems with their baby (primary) teeth.
Children usually stop sucking between the ages of two and four years old, or by the time the permanent front teeth are ready to erupt. If you notice changes in your child’s primary teeth, or are concerned about your child’s thumbsucking consult your dentist.
Tips for helping your child stop thumbsucking:
Praise your child for not sucking.
Children often suck their thumbs when feeling insecure or needing comfort. Focus on correcting the cause of the anxiety and provide comfort to your child.
For an older child, involve him or her in choosing the method of stopping.
Your dentist can offer encouragement to your child and explain what could happen to their teeth if they do not stop sucking.
If the above tips don’t work, remind the child of their habit by bandaging the thumb or putting a sock on the hand at night. Your dentist or pediatrician may prescribe a bitter medication to coat the thumb or the use of a mouth appliance.

Fbs100 and ppbs104 mg/dl is not diabetes. She should continue her active lifestyle and eat balanced diet consisting of whole grain, vegetables ,salad ,fruits ,healthy nuts, low fat dairy products and if non-vegetarian then fish and lean chicken and eggs prepared in healthy way. Limit junk and oily food to minimum. They only satisfy taste and don't give nutrition. Such a diet should be followed by all.

Hello Doctors, My son born on 10-APR-2016, now he is with 2 months 4 days with weight of around 4 kg 50 gms. My question here is that, he used cry lot in night even after feeding and also we used to follow the feeding as every 2 to 3 hrs gab even if he is sleeping then we used to make him get up and try to feed. Is that correct way or we need to wait his wake up by his own or based on crying? And please suggest the process of feeding throughout the day like need to continue like 2 to 3 hrs gap or not? And we used to feed him mostly with SIMILAC advance 1 formula milk since my wife is not having enough breast milk? Suggest this also.

Hello Doctors,
My son born on 10-APR-2016, now he is with 2 months 4 days with weight of around 4 kg 50 gms.
My quest...
Similac is fine. By enlarge you are doing great. 2-3 hourly feeds are better as newborns don't have much energy reserve in first initial months of life (lack of brown fat. Which requires frequent feeds. I would insist on keep trying for breast feeds as there is nothing superior then breast milk as it is human specific, and baby specific. High immunity provider and iincreases bonding with mom. Secondly, well --> day time more sleep and night time more cry is a normal behavior of a newly born, that's fine. It's not a disease per se.

My daughter premature born now 4 months completed and weight now 3.7 kg and she s suffering from loose motion for 15 ...
First of all the cause of diarrhea should be found. Do not give anything to her except breast milk, not even water. As if anything other than mothers milk will go into the babies mouth she will have loose motion and diarrhea. Also if she passes stool with every episode of feeding than be rest assured its a normal reflex. She may pass stool upto 10 times per day. Kindly feed the baby with milk for every episode of loose stool. As soon as the infection passes outside the body the stool frequency will normalize. If she is not gaining any weight then you need to show to a pediatrician to rule out any GIT infections.

Do not start with cow or buffalo milk until child crosses 1 year. Reason for crying might be colic pain so start with colic aid drops 4-5 drops 3-4 times a day, other alternative for breast feeding is formula feed which is available as lactogen or nan. I suggest you not to start formula feed if you are having enough breast milk. Continue breast milk atleast for 1 year.

If money isn't the criteria you must go for all the vaccines. Pneumococcal vaccine will protect against invasive pneumococcal diseases like pneumonia, meningitis etc. After 6 months only 2doses are enough with a booster at 15 months.
