My father aged 65 is suffering from L5 lumbar spondylosis pain. The doctor we consulted only gave a belt to wear. Although he has been wearing the belt for about a month there is no improvement. We also have to be cautious of using painkillers and exercise as he has hypertension as well as only one functioning kidney. Please advice.

Hello If there is no response to conservative treatment, we need to evaluate your father with a detail clinical evaluation. I agree that use of pain killers may be risky in case of having a single functioning kidney. Don't worry, we can take care of your father's spine problem.

Hi lybrate-user, thanks for your question. Kyphosis spinal deformity may be distressing in terms of pain or cosmetic deformity. Treatment may range from non operative exercises to surgery. It all depends of the severity of Kyphosis and how it is affecting your lifestyle. I have a wide experience as a spine surgeon to treat such problems. You can visit me in person or check my website for details.

What exactly is a spine block injection? Will it work long-term for low back pain due to disc problems?
Hi, spine block or better known as the pain block of selective nerve root block is an injection place near the nerve root that gets compressed. It does help in selective patients with disc problem, however the duration of pain relief cannot be guaranteed. A well placed injection typically give complete or partial relief for 15 days to 6 months. However, have seen patients getting a much longer duration of pain relief.

Hi lybrate-user, in case of revision, thr is the best option. With newer designs like the ceramic on ceramic hip, the long term results and outcomes are very good.

Hi lybrate-user, the response to cervical myelopathy depends on the exact pathology and the current functional status of the patient. I have been treating cervical myelopathy patients regularly. Would like to know more about your fathers functional status with regards to walking ability, power in legs and the hands.
