Hand Fracture in Elders - Tips to Recover Faster!

The wrist is one of the most common areas that can go through a fracture or an injury. This is especially true for patients over the age of 65 years. There are many kinds of fractures, including simple or closed fractures, as well as compound or open fractures and comminuted or greenstick fractures. Hairline fractures are considered as the most common kind of fracture, and can be easily detected in an x-Ray. While it is easy for children to recover from a fracture, it is that much more difficult for the elderly to recover from one.

Read on to know the various ways in which the elderly can recover from a hand fracture.

  1. Time and trauma: Usually, an adult will take six to eight weeks to recover from a fracture completely. Children take almost half the time to recover as their bones are more tender and willing to fuse back together in lesser time, which is not always possible for more mature bones. Also, the elderly experience more trauma when it comes to a fracture and broken bones. Further, these individuals are already a part of a high risk group when it comes to such fractures due to problems with vision, gait and even the bone density.
  2. Physiotherapy: This is one of the most important parts of the treatment that elderly people have to follow after a hand fracture. This can help them in restoring normal mobility in the hand and wrist eventually, with regular practice. Physiotherapy must be practiced under the guidance of a trained expert, and thereafter, the exercises can be continued at home on a regular basis. These exercises will help in restoring the strength of the hand as well as the wrist.
  3. Changes in the hand: The knuckles and wrists may look different after a fracture. This depends on the kind of injury and fracture that has been sustained by the patient. The different types of hand fractures can occur on the knuckles or right below them, in the shaft of the main bone, at the base of the bone, on the wrist, and also with a dislocation of the bone and wrist. These kinds of changes should be referred to an orthopaedic surgeon who can help by inserting pins and braces to repair the fracture and bring the hand back to normal.
  4. Medication and self care: It is important to keep your hand above the heart level at all times during the recovery process. Also, an ice pack can help in stemming the pain. People across the planet observe fasting from dawn to dusk during the holy month of Ramadan, the ninth according to the Islamic calendar. The fasting is observed throughout the month to commemorate the first revelation that was made of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad, and people remind themselves to abstain not only from food, but also from negative thoughts.

However, the fasting is observed from dawn until the onset of twilight. The most important part of this fasting ritual is breaking the fast, the consumption of the iftar.

Care needs to be taken when breaking a fast so as not to overburden your digestive system. Though fasting is a healthy regimen for both the mind as well as the body, the natural body cycle is challenged by reversing the normal food cycle and can affect metabolism.

Break the Eid fast in a smarter way

The most nutritious and easy-to-digest foods should be ingested to break a fast, gradually adding more diversity over time. You can try dates and honey, which are not only a part of the tradition, but also help and prepare the digestive system and being sweet in flavor they prevent you from overeating.

Eating heavy food can better be avoided while breaking the fast as they may create a sudden imbalance in the system. You may start with fruit juices and eat light food that is easy to digest. Fruit and vegetable juices, bone broths and even yogurt are good for that initial "breaking" of the fast.

Among these, fruits are the most popular and easiest. But whatever you do, rehydrate yourself with a couple of glasses of water and continue to take sips through the evening.

Lettuce and spinach (you can use plain yogurt as a dressing and top with fresh fruit), cooked vegetables and vegetable soups, raw vegetables, well-cooked grains and beans, nuts and eggs, and milk products are recommended.

The body undergoes minor internal changes, like enzymes usually produced by the digestive system, have ceased to be produced or have been diminished greatly while observing the fast, so introducing food slowly allows the body to re-establish the enzyme production.

Also, try making healthy choices, for instance, grilled meats instead of fried, light sauces instead of creamy ones and limited portions of white rice and bread. Fiber and protein rich diets should be preferred choice.

Put a vigil on your wandering hands

While fasting the mucus lining of the stomach momentarily is reduced, making the stomach walls more vulnerable to irritation until it returns to normal. Gentle introduction of foods, beginning with the simplest and easy-to-digest foods supports this process. Coffee and spicy foods like haleem or beef must be avoided, as it can cause irritation to the system, during the fast.

Also limiting sugary syrups and fizzy drinks can help you keep your weight and blood sugar levels in check. The same goes for fatty foods, preservatives, and soft drinks. Avoid vinegar and chili, for instance.

To conclude, after fasting for long hours, while breaking the fast, small meals are preferred as the digestion will be slow and also avoid food that is spicy and heavy. Introduce nutrient-rich ingredients in the meal and have proteins and essential vitamins and minerals in your diet. And last, but not the least, keep yourself well hydrated.

प्लेटलेट्स हमारे शरीर संरचना का एक बेहद जरूरी हिस्सा हैं। ये हमारे रुधिर का थक्का जमाने में मददगार होती हैं, जिससे शरीर से खून का नुकसान ज्यादा नहीं हो पाता। सामान्य व्यक्तिी के शरीर में 1.5 लाख से 4.5 लाख प्रतिे माइक्रोलीटर प्लेटलट्स होती हैं। रोजाना हमारे शरीर में प्लेटलेट्स बनती और नष्ट होती रहती हैं। प्लेटलेट्स की संख्या अगर 1.5 लाख से कम हो जाए तो इस स्थि ति् को थ्रॉम्बोसाइटोपेनिया कहते हैं। अगर प्लेटलेट्स की संख्या 20 हजार से कम हो जाए तो व्यक्तिी की जान को खतरा हो सकता है। इस स्थितिी में रोगी को प्लेटलेट्स चढ़ानी पड़ती हैं।

इन वजहों से घट सकती हैं प्लेटलेट्स 
प्लेटलेट्स सामान्यता वायरल बीमारियों में घट जाती हैं। बारिश के मौसम में होने वाली बीमारियां जैसे डेंगू और मलेरिया में प्लेटलेट्स कम हो जाती हैं। वहीं प्लेटलेट्स कम होने की कुछ बेहद गंभीर वजहें जैसे ल्यूकेमिया, एनीमिया, कैंसर, लिवर या किडनी की बीमारी वगैरह भी हो सकती हैं। इसके साथ विटामिन बी 12 की कमी, खून में संक्रमण या ऑटो इम्यून बीमारी भी प्लेटलेट्स कम होने की वजह हैं।

ऐसे पहचानें प्लेटलेट्स की कमी 
प्लेटलेट्स का मुख्य काम शरीर में खून का थक्का जमाना है। खून में प्लेटलेट्स कम हो जाने पर रोगी में अंदरूनी या बाह्य रक्तस्त्राव होने लगता है। चोट लगने या घाव हो जाने पर खून बहना बंद न होना, नाक या मसूड़ों से खून आना, थकान, सुस्ती, पेशाब में खून आना, त्वचा में खून के चकत्ते पड़ना आदि प्लेटलेट्स कम होने के लक्षण हैं। 

प्लेटलेट्स कम होने की आशंका हो तो डॉक्टर से तुरंत सलाह लेकर ब्लड टेस्ट करवाएं। इसके अलावा ये घरेलू उपाय भी प्लेटलेट्स की संख्या बढ़ाने में मददगार साबित हो सकते हैं।

1. पपीता- 
पपीते का फल और इसकी पत्तिलयां दोनों ही प्लेटलेट्स की संख्या में कुछ ही दिनों में इजाफा कर सकती हैं। कुछ शोधों में भी ये बात सामने आई है किा पपीते की ताजी, हरी पत्तियों को पीसकर पीने से डेंगू से पीड़िदत मरीजों की प्लेटलेट्स में इजाफा हुआ है। पपीते को दो तरह से उपयोग में ला सकते हैं।
- कच्चा  पपीता खाएं या फिर पपीते का जूस बनाकर उसमें थोड़ा सा नींबू का रस मिलाकर रोजाना पिएं।
- पपीते की ताजी पत्तियां तोड़कर पहले उन्हें अच्छी तरह धों लें। फिर उसका रस निकाल लें। इस जूस को रोजाना दो से तीन बार पिएं। ये जूस कड़वा लग सकता है। इसलिरए एक बार में दो चम्मच जूस पिएं। 

2. चुकंदर-  
प्लेटलेट्स की संख्या बढ़ाने में चुकंदर भी काफी अच्छा उपाय माना जाता है। प्राकृतिक एंटीऑक्सीडेंट और हेमोस्टैटिक गुणों से भरपूर होने के कारण, चुकंदर प्लेटलेट काउंट को कुछ ही दिनों बढ़ा देता है। अगर दो से तीन चम्मच चुकंदर के रस को एक गिलास गाजर के रस में मिलाकर पिया जाए तो आपको इसका असर तुरंत दिखाई देगा। चुकंदर में आयरन भी मौजूद होता है, साथ ही एंटीऑक्सीडेंट शरीर के लिसए काफी फायदेमंद होते हैं। ये शरीर की प्रतिरोधक क्षमता भी बढ़ाता है।

3. पालक- 
खून में प्लेटलेट्स की कमी पालक के सेवन से भी पूरी की जा सकती है। पालक विटामिन के का एक अच्छा स्रोत होता है। ब्लड क्लॉटिंाग में विटामिन ‘के’ काफी अहम है। शरीर में प्रचुर मात्रा में विटामिन  ‘के’ पहुंचने से अधिक रक्तस्त्राव के खतरे को कम किया जा सकता है। पालक के इस्तेमाल से पहले इसको धोना जरूरी है। दो कप पानी में 4 से 5 ताजा पालक के पत्तों को डालकर कुछ मिनट तक उबालें। इसे ठंडा होने के लिए रख दें। ठंडा होने पर इसमें आधी मात्रा में टमाटर का रस मिलाकर पिएं। पालक को आप सलाद, सूप और स्मूदी के रूप में भी ले सकते हैं। पालक पनीर इसे ग्रहण करने का सबसे स्वादिनष्ट तरीका है।

4. व्हीटग्रास- 
व्हीटग्रास भी प्लेटलेट काउंट बढ़ाने में मदद करती है। व्हीटग्रास का जूस निकालकर इसमें नींबू मिलाकर आधा कप रोजाना पिएं। ये जूस प्लेटलेट्स ही नहीं बल्किल हीमोग्लोबिन, आरबीसी और डब्लूबीसी बढ़ाने में भी उपयोगी है।

5. एलोविरा का जूस- 
एलोविरा का जूस बहुत बढ़िउया रक्तशोधक है। इसके सेवन से खून के कई तरह के संक्रमण दूर होते हैं, जिससे प्लेटलेट्स की संख्या भी बढ़ती है।

6. कद्दू- 
कद्दू में प्रचुर मात्रा में विटामिन ए और के होता है। ये कोशिकाओं में प्रोटीन का निर्माण करता है, साथ ही इसे खाने से प्लेटलेट्स भी बढ़ती हैं।

7. पानी और नींबू पानी- 
सादा पानी भी आपके शरीर में प्लेटलेट्स निर्माण की प्रक्रिया को उत्तेजित करता है। इसके अलावा विटामिन सी युक्त पदार्थ जैसे- नींबू, मौसमी, आंवला और अमरूद वगैरह प्लेटलेट्स की कमी पूरी करने में काफी सहायक होते हैं।

अमूमन पीरियड यानि महिलाओं को होने वाले मासिक धर्म से हम सभी वाकिफ़ होते हैं .यह महीने में एक बार होता है इसीलिए इसे मासिक धर्म कहा जाता है. महिलाओं के लिए यह भले असुविधाजनक होता है पर हर एक के जीवन में इसका बहुत महत्व है. क्योंकि मासिक धर्म का होना और खासकर नियमित होना एक महिला के सहज माँ बनने और स्वस्थ होने की निशानी होती है. करीब १२-१३ की उम्र से ५० साल की उम्र तक आने वाले इस मासिक धर्म में अगर कभी रुकावट आ जाए या यह अनियमित हो जाए तो इसे गंभीर समस्या के रूप में लेनी चाहिए. और समय रहते इस समस्या से निजात पाने की कोशिश करनी चाहिए. एक खास बात  की एक स्टडी के अनुसार इस समस्या से 5 में से 3 लड़कियां परेशान हैं. यह खास समस्या आम हो चली इन दिनों . अब हम आपको मासिक धर्म की अनियमितता को सुधारने के लिए घरेलु उपाय बताएं इसके पहले हम आपको बताते हैं इसके लक्षण और कारण. 

पीरियड्स की अनियमितता के लक्षण 
गर्भाशय के हिस्से में दर्द, भूख न लगना, छाती में दर्द, दूध कम निकलना, दिल धड़कना, सांस लेने में तकलीफ, कान में तरह-तरह की आवाजें सुनाई पड़ना, नींद न आना, दस्त लगना, पेट में दर्द, शरीर में सूजन, मानसिक तनाव, हाथ, पैर व कमर में दर्द, थकावट, शरीर में दर्द जैसी स्थिति पीरियड रुकने के लक्षण होते हैं .

मासिक धर्म की अनियमितता के कारण 
स्मोकिंग, तम्बाकू, कॉफ़ी  या दुसरे प्रकार के नशे करना, ज्यादा व्यायाम, थायरोइड, ज्यादा दवा खाने, आलसपन, खून की कमी, पीरियड के दौरान ठंडी चीजें खाने, ठंड लगने, पानी में ज्यादा समय तक भीगने, ज्यादा घुमने, मानसिक तनाव, शुगर एनीमिया और पीरियड के समय खाने-पीने में लापरवाही जैसे कारणों से मासिक धर्म रुक जाता है या अनियमित हो जाता है.

सही समय पर माहवारी आने के लिए अब हम आपको बताएंगे नीचे कुछ  घरेलू नुस्खे जिसे इस्तेमाल करके आपको जरुर फायदा होगा . 

1. दालचीनी 
दालचीनी की तासीर गरम होती है, साथ ही इसमें ऐसे गुण पाए जाते हैं जो पीरियड में देर की प्राब्लम को कम करते हैं और मासिक धर्म के लक्षणों से भी बचाते हैं. एक हालिया से  शोध पता चला है की दालचीनी में पाया जाने वाला हाइड्रोक्साइकलोन  मासिक धर्म को रेगुलर करने में सहायक होता है. इसलिए इसे अपने भोजन में शामिल करें. इसके अलावा आप इसे खा भी सकती हैं . अगर आयुर्वेद की माने तो आधा चम्मच दालचीनी रोजाना रात को एक ग्लास दूध में घोल कर पीने से काफी फ़ायदा मिलता है.

2. अदरक 
अदरक में पीरियड आने में देरी या अनियमितता को दूर कर उन्हें फिर से शुरू करवाने में हेल्प करने वाले गुण समाहित हैं . साथ ही अदरक के औषधीय गुण पीरियड के समय होने वाले पेट  दर्द, मरोड़ आदि को होने से भी रोकते हैं. पीरियड में देरी हो या कोई और समस्या अदरक का इस्तेमाल है अचूक उपचार . बस एक चम्मच सुखी अदरक को या फिर अदरक की पेस्ट को एक कप पानी के साथ कुछ देर उबालिए और इसमें थोड़ी सी चीनी मिलाकर दिन में ३ बार पिएं . तो अब से नियमित करें अदरक का इस्तेमाल . अदरक हर किसी के लिए लाभदायक है  .

3. एलोवेरा 
एलोवेरा में मौजूद होते हैं हॉर्मोन्स को सही स्तर पर रखने वाली क्वालिटी . इसके ताजे रस को शहद के साथ मिलाकर रोज सुबह अपने  ब्रेकफास्ट के साथ लें, जल्द ही आपके पीरियड रेग्युलर हो ज़ाएँगे.पर हाँ ध्यान रहे की इसका इस्तेमाल भी पीरियड के दौरान न करें.

4. हरा या कच्चा पपीता 
वैसे तो पपीता बहुत सी चीजों के लिए फायदेमंद होता है पर कच्चे हरे पपीते में गर्भाशय को सुन्कुंचित करने की क्षमता होती है . और इसी वजह से इसे खाने से आपका पीरियड सही समय पर आने लगता है. ये मानसिक तनाव और रजोनिवृत्ति के कारण मासिक चक्र में देरी होने को सही करने के लिए काफी अहम माना जाता है. पीरियड्स के दौरान परहेज बस उसके वाला आप कच्चे पपीते का जूस भी रोजाना पी सकती हैं. 

5. गुड़ और तिल के दाने
तिल के बीज और गुड इन दोनो का नियमित इस्तेमाल शरीर के हॉर्मोन स्तर को बैलेंस   करके पीरियड के अनियमितता की तकलीफ को ठीक करता है. तिल में पाए जाने वाले लिग्नांस आपके शरीर में सामान्य से अधिक पाए जाने वाले हॉर्मोन्स को बंद कर उनके असर को ख़तम करते हैं. तो आप बस इतना करें की  एक मुट्ठी तिल के दानो को भुन कर उनका पाउडर  बना लें  और एक चम्मच गुड को पाउडर के साथ मिला मिलाएं. इस मिश्रण का एक चम्मच रोजाना अपने पीरियड शुरू होने के दो हफ्ते पहले से खाना शुरू कर दें. गुड की गरम तासीर से आप मासिक धर्म को नॉर्मल कर सकती हैं. पर ध्यान दें की इस मिश्रण का सेवन पीरियड के दौरान न करें .

इन घरेलु नुस्खों को अपनाकर आप जरुर पीरियड को नियमित करने में कामयाब होंगे और अगर फिर भी समस्या बनी रहे तो डॉक्टर सालाह जरुर लें .

One or more such holes on the abdominal wall serve as passageways for a specialised instrument called a laparoscope. A long, thin tube headed by a high-resolution camera and a high-intensity guiding light is inserted through the incision. As the instrument moves along, the camera transmits images to a video monitor enabling your surgeon to see inside without opening up your body for surgery.

This process is used to diagnose unidentified abdominal or pelvic pain. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is usually performed when all non-invasive alternatives have been tried. Imaging techniques like ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) scan or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are sometimes unable to provide enough data for diagnosis.

Laparoscopic surgery is used for the removals of an inflamed appendix, gall bladder, hernias, and cancer-affected organs, fibroids from the uterus, the womb (hysterectomy) and also for performing weight-loss surgeries.

Laparoscopy has a lot of advantages over the more common, open procedure. They are:

Colposcopy is a procedure that is used to get a closer view of a women’s cervix, vagina and vulva. It is a procedure carried on to detect the presence of any abnormal cells on the cervix and nearby areas. 

Why is Colposcopy done?
This procedure is carried out to see the problems in the vagina and cervix which may otherwise be not visible with a naked eye. A colposcopy is done when the Pap test results are abnormal. These abnormalities could be due to several reasons like viral infections namely human papillomavirus (HPV) infection or any other fungal (yeast), bacterial or protozoan (Trichomonas) infection. Atrophic vaginitis or natural cervical changes due to menopause can also lead to abnormal Pap test results. However one needs to be careful because these untreated cervical cell changes that lead to abnormal Pap tests can at times develop into precancerous or cancerous changes.

Cervical Biopsy
In case during colposcopy, an abnormal tissue is found in the problem areas, the doctor will remove a tiny sample of it and send it to the lab. This is normally known as a biopsy or cervical biopsy which is done from inside the opening of the cervix or endocervical canal.
 

Procedure for a colposcopy and biopsy
A colposcopy is normally a pain free procedure where at times some women might feel a slight tingling or burning sensation when the solution is applied. Biopsy might lead to a little discomfort like that of a sharp pinch or a menstrual cramp. During colposcopy a speculum or a small instrument is inserted into the vagina to spread apart the vaginal walls. In order to see the area more clearly the doctor dabs the cervix or vagina with a cotton swab dipped in vinegar (acetic acid) or Iodine (Lugol's solution). The solution is used to remove any kind of mucus and also makes the abnormal cells turn white in order to be clearly visible.

The doctor then uses a colposcope, a light magnifying device that looks like binoculars and has a bright light mounted to it. It also has a camera attached to it to take the videos or pictures of the cervix and vagina.
Biopsies are normally done by scraping away abnormal cells with a small brush or a small curette.

Results of colposcopy or cervical Biopsy
In case of Normal results the vinegar or iodine will not show the presence of any abnormal cells and the vagina and cervix look normal. But in case of abnormal results, there are abnormal tissues seen in the problem areas. During the natural course of events, a women's body starts its reproductive phase with menarche and at about 50 years of age, attains menopause. This is when the reproductive function ceases and the ovaries stop producing the hormone estrogen and progesterone. In some cases, for various reasons including medical, the ovaries stop functioning earlier, and this is medically termed early or premature menopause. Menopause that occurs before 40 years of age is termed premature menopause; it is due to primary ovarian insufficiency and occurs in 1% of the women.  If it occurs between 45 to 50 years, it is termed early menopause.

Causes: Normal ageing, family history, genetic disorders, autoimmune disorders, toxins, and surgery are some reasons that could lead to premature menopause.

Effects: Estrogen and progesterone have a lot of beneficial effects on a women's body. Reduction in their levels leads to some of the below changes:

  • Emotional changes like mood swings, irritability, and in some cases depression, especially in premature menopause.

9 Ways To Keep Vaginal Problems In Check

1. Wipe From Back To Front

Wiping after a bowel movement seems like a trivial task. Yet, there is a healthy and safe way to go about it. Start from the front and move backward. In women, the openings of the anus and vagina are fairly close together. If you wipe from back to front, you increase the risk of bringing bacteria from the anus into the vagina. This move can trigger bacterial vaginosis, a vaginal infection characterized by a fishy smell, discharge, and itching. It is also marked by a burning sensation that amplifies when you urinate. So make it a point to start from the back and work toward the front. It may take some getting used to, but it’s the type of habit that will protect your vaginal health.1

2. Avoid Douching

Douching is the act of cleaning the vagina by spraying it with water or other fluids. Many believe that this practice will get rid of bad odor and menstrual residue. It’s much different than a simple rinse around the vagina, though. (The latter doesn’t do any harm, and can be a part of a regular shower or wash.) However, about 1 in 4 American women ages 15 to 44 years douche. Popular products include prepackaged douches containing vinegar, iodine, and baking soda. These douches are made to be inserted into the vagina using a nozzle or tube.

Unfortunately, this can adversely impact the natural balance inside the vagina. From dryness to irritation, douching can cause problems that weren’t there in the first place.3Douching doesn’t just flush out the good bacteria but can also help bad bacteria flourish, leading to conditions like a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis. A healthy vagina needs certain levels of both bacteria, after all. And if you already have a bacterial infection? Douching can encourage the bacteria to move into the uterus, ovaries, and Fallopian tube. This can also cause an infection that can transform into pelvic inflammatory disease, a serious inflammation of the reproductive organs.4

Needless to say, douching should be avoided for prime vaginal health. The vagina naturally cleanses itself by emitting discharge and mucus. And while it may be tempting to speed it up, the vagina is perfectly capable of handling it on its own.

3. Ditch Feminine Hygiene Products 

But do we really need them? Most soaps are basic in nature, while the natural vaginal pH tends to be acidic. When you wash the vagina with these soaps too often, the natural state is thrown for a loop. It gives harmful microbes a chance to grow, causing bacterial vaginosis and fungal infections. Fragrances in soaps, cleansers, and gels can also irritate the vagina. While there’s a ton of debate on this topic, there’s no proof yet that vaginal washes can actually maintain an acidic pH. Yet, many products claim to do so. The vagina can maintain a healthy pH by itself. And if it is unable to do so, symptoms of itching and a foul-smelling discharge will manifest. At that point, a doctor’s intervention is the only thing needed.

4. Eat Probiotics

While a nutritious, balanced diet is important for reproductive health, probiotics have an exceptionally special role. The vaginal canal has a natural level of good bacteria that keep it healthy. Most notably, this includes the Lactobacillus bacteria. Research even speculates that inadequate amounts of Lactobacilli in the vagina can lead to a greater susceptibility to infections, from yeast infections to HIV type 1.8 So if you’re looking to optimize your vaginal health, eat foods that are rich in probiotic bacteria. Need ideas? Yogurt and fermented foods like kimchi, or miso are all tasty options.

5. Maintain Good Menstrual Hygiene

With the invention of high-absorbency pads, it’s easy to forget how important it is to change them regularly. Otherwise, bacterial overgrowth, rashes, and general discomfort may occur. To prevent these from conditions from developing, experts recommend changing pads every six to eight hours.9

Tampons aren’t much different. Leaving them in for longer than eight hours has been known to increase the chances of a potentially fatal condition called toxic shock syndrome. Your best bet is to change them at least four to five times a day.10 The Women’s Voices for the Earth report also points out that the dioxins, pesticidal residues, and fragrance chemicals in tampons and sanitary pads may pose a risk to reproductive and endocrine health, aside from causing allergies and infections.11Looking for an alternative? Consider a reusable menstrual cup instead of these conventional products.

6. Practice Safe Sex

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with protecting your sexual health when you’re with a new partner (or multiple partners). Use physical barriers such as condoms and diaphragms to protect yourself from contracting a sexually transmitted disease.13

Another safe sex practice is urination after sexual intercourse. This simple habit can help get rid of bacteria in the urethra and bladder. You can also wash around the vagina after sex to prevent unwanted bacteria and foreign bodies from entering the vaginal canal after sex. But remember, these actions won’t prevent sexually transmitted infection. A physical barrier is still your best option.

7. Visit A Lady Sexologist For Preventive Care

Whether you have a mild itch or a suspicion of something serious, a doctor is a good person to turn to. If you have a persistent itch for more than a week or if it turns into inflammation with a smelly discharge, see a doctor immediately. And if there’s a new vaginal hygiene practice that catches your attention, a doctor is the best person to assess if it is right for you.

8. Perform Kegel Exercises

The vaginal canal is made up of muscles just like the arms and legs. Pelvic floor exercises that involve contracting and relaxing muscles in the hip region can be very helpful in keeping the vagina strong and flexible. This is especially ideal post-pregnancy when the vagina loses some of its elasticity. By doing these exercises often, it can be restored to its previous physical state.

9. Give Yoga A Shot

The abnormal growth of the endometrium tissue outside the uterus is known as endometriosis. Ideally, the abnormal tissue is supposed to break down and exit the body. However, in this condition, the tissue is unable to pass out of the body. As a result, the surrounding tissue tends to get irritated and leads to the formation of scar tissues.

The various causes of endometriosis include:

  1. Immune system disorder: Complications in the immune system might render it incapable of destroying the endometrial tissue that grows outside the uterus.
  2. Surgical scar implantation: Certain surgeries such as a C-section may result in the attachment of endometrial cells to the incision area.
  3. Embryonic cell transport: These cells may be transported to other parts of the body by the blood vessels which may lead to endometriosis.
  4. Retrograde menstruation: Instead of passing out of the body, under this condition, the blood flows back into the pelvic region via the fallopian tubes. When these cells attach themselves to the pelvic cavity, it causes endometriosis.

Symptoms

2. Pain during periods including pelvic pain, especially during periods, lower back pain and abdominal pain.
3. Excessive bleeding during periods
4. Fatigue
5. Constipation
6. Bloating

The major complication that results is fertility problems. Endometriosis may prevent the combination of the egg and the sperm and thus, impairs your ability to conceive. It is recommended not to delay pregnancy if you have endometriosis. This disorder also tends to increase the risk of ovarian cancer in some women.

How can it be treated?

Endometriosis is usually done using surgery or medications. 

  1. Medication: It usually involves painkillers.
  2. Hormone therapy: Some of the hormonal therapies include:
    1. Hormonal contraceptives
    2. Progestin therapy
    3. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Gn-RH) agonists and antagonists
  3. Conservative surgery: If a patient wants to become pregnant, surgery is done as much as possible without harming the uterus and ovaries. Suggested procedures include laparoscopy and traditional abdominal surgery.
  4. Assisted reproductive technologies: An example of this form of treatment is In Vitro Fertilization.
