Vertigo can be a symptom of many problems. Yes a few diseases do reccur. You need to get treated as & when they occur. Vestibular rehabilitation exercises can help preventing certain problems upto some extent.

By phone do you mean mobile phones? if yes then limited use of mobile phones, use land lines as much as possible, if cannot avoid mobile. Use speaker phone, do not use mobile phones when battery very low or signals very bad.

Avoid cold & fried food. Gargle with hot water + pinch of salt + pinch of turmeric powder 2 to 3 times a day. Take only anlgesic drug first. If no relief within a day start antibiotics.

How long ringing has been there? if you have hearing problem get an audiometry (test for hearing) done at the earliest possible. Try tab tinicar 2 tabs twice a day & tab bilovas 1 tab twice a day till you get yourself checked.

Hi doctor, I am 33 years old, tall and slim. By look I am healthy, but for more than 12 years (as I could remember), I get affected by throat pain followed by cold and then fever which lasts for 4-8 days. And this repeats once in 2-3 months, rarely once in 6 months or once in a month also. I have consulted many doctors, its found I have sinus problem and nothing found beyond that. Please advice, based on your experience what might be the reason for this fever attack frequently, and what next steps to be taken by me.

Hi being tall & slim does not indicate that you are healthy. Try breathing exercises like pranayam, go for open air walks daily, improve your lifestyle. Besides that getting upper respiratory infections once in 2 to 3 months is not very dangerous unless you need to take antibiotics every time. If that is the case then you need a sinus ct scan ant treatment accordingly.

I am 30 year old married female, I am feeling dizziness after taking medicine topgest 400, is this a symptom of pregnancy or not ?

Diploma in Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (D.O.R.L), M.B.B.S

Hi in my opinion dizziness after taking medicine cannot be a symptom of pregnency. You can get a blood test or urine pregnancy test done after consulting your gynaecologist.

I am 54 years old I have blocked nose problem for many years now, I take otrivin regularly and I cannot live without it. Due to this I have snoring and disturbed sleep every day leading to subsequent problems in day to day life. What is the permanent solution to it other than surgery which was told to be a temp relief solution as the same problem can reoccur.

Diploma in Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (D.O.R.L), M.B.B.S
ENT Specialist, Pune
Hello nasal blockage can be due to deviated nasal septum, hypertrophied turbinates, allergic conditions or infection. If you have been using otrivin for a long time that itself can cause rebound nasal congestion. You need to get examined by an ent surgeon to know whether any surgery can help you solve your problem permanently. If in any case you are not willing for surgery there is something called cpap machine for snoring & sleep apnoea. You have to get a polysomnography done before going for it. Lifestyle changes also help. No any particular medicine available for snoring. You need to stop using otrivin.

Its 1st week that during my bath water went inside my ear unlike other I am not so good at taking out those water drops and recently facing ear pain ear ringing and a constant blockage which while trying to unblock giving this excruciating pain need help any drops to use?

Diploma in Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (D.O.R.L), M.B.B.S

Hi when water enters ear and your ear has wax in the canal then the wax swells up due to water which exerts pressure on the canal walls causing blockage and pain, there can be bacterial or fungal infection which can also cause pain. Dont try cleaning your ear with an ear bud, by doing this you will be pushing wax more towards the ear drum and also traumatising the canal wall skin. Its better to visit a doctor.

My 3 year son was having ear pain at midnight 5 days back, we immediately seek for doctor advice. The dr provided paracetamol, and an ear drop. Next day fever started with ear pain, I went for ent specialist, he gave antibiotics, combiflam and nasal drops, and said it was due to congestion of cough, that has blocked the ear also, that was responsible for pain. After 2 days of treatment fever resumed in the morning and evening, it went from 98 to 103 also once. But after giving crocin it disappers. Now, dr asked to go for typhoid and malarial test, which was also negative, and fever is still, recuuring like that. The dr has asked to go for malaraial medicines. I need your suggestion.

Hello pain in ears when child has nose and throat infection is very common. Medicines given were correct. Normally viral fever lasts for 5 days to a week where fever is high, but to be on the safer side and not to miss anything which can be easily treated and also when diseases like dengue and malaria are rampent, its better follow whatever your doctor has adviced.

I am suffering from esphagitis grade a and taken few medicine to suppress the acid reflux. But along with that I am having sore throat since last 4-5 months. Please my doctor says that I don' t have any issue in throat but I am still feeling pain and sore throat. Please please advice what could be the reason of the throat pain. Thanks in advance.

Hi throat pain can also be due to reflux. Reflux can sometimes cause ear pain also. Treating reflux is the only solution if there is no infective pathology seen inthe throat.

Hi , your problem seems to be occuring due to eustachian tube disfunction. Take hot water steam through your nose and mouth (not ears). An anti allergic can help you. If no relief in few days visit a doctor.
