Importance of Sharad Purnima

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Importance of Sharad Purnima
  • The practice of drinking cold milk during this fast/ this day has its origins in science. Sharad ritu (autumn season) brings in very hot days and cool nights. During such weather, ‘pitta’ or acidity or the body heat becomes predominant in our body. Consumption of milk,  rice flakes is a good remedy for ‘pitta’.
  • There is also a close connection between the moon and the sharad purnima day – the moon is believed to be close to the earth on the day and it is believed that moon’s rays contain nourishing elements. People believe that as the moon is nearest to the earth on the day and as moon’s rays has several curative properties it will be helpful to human beings. So people spend the evening under moonlight.
  • Chandra, the moon god, is associated with herbs and medicine in hinduism. The rays are believed to be associated with cold, phlegm, asthma, distress, insomnia, weak left eye, breasts and womb effected in astrology. The rays being cooling in nature suppress the body heat.
  • The showering of bhakti raas on the sharad purnima night by krishna on gopis and radha has been the main theme for poets and philosophers and still continues to attract the fantasies of common man. The sharad purnima night is also seen as the night of love and couples come out at night to face the moon and express their love. Therefore, sharad purima becomes the night of pure unconditional love and meditation
  • Meditation for at least 5 minutes in front of the" moon amrit shower" brings peace and health to the mind and the body (the ideal timing for meditation today is 8.50 pm to 12.10 am).

These don't seem to be the symptoms of spider bite. You must be having fungal/ bacterial infection. Avoid sweets in this season. Wash the affected parts with decotion of Neem when you take bath. Apply a paste of Neem leaves and raw phitakari for 10 minutes and wash with a mild soap like green pears. Medical treatment is recommended to detoxify blood.

These are the signs and symptoms of hyperacidity and infection alongwith a weakened liver. Further check-up up and proper treatment are mandatory. Drink boiled and cooled water only or you can boil 2 litre of water and put 2 tsp dry coriander and 2 tsp Saunf when you switch off the gas. Sieve and drink this water for the whole day. Take fruits and eat inbetween 3-4 hours of meals. Do not stay hungry. Take coconut burfi and sweet Amla when you feel hungry. Eat 3 to 5 hours before you sleep. Avoid chillies, tamarind, vinegar, pickles, etc. These small measures are not the treatment but will help you in the long run. Shothari pranayam and anulom vilom will be a boon. Take Avipattikar churna- 1 tsp after food with normal water 2 times a day which is very safe and can be used by anybody.

I have started taking Ashwagandha for my knee pain on your Advice. (lybrate Dr. S) How many months I need to take it....
Ashwagandha is a rasayan and can be taken for 1 year safely but in low doses. If you have relief in knee pain after taking this combination, you should continue this, otherwise time for a change in the medicine. Take navayas lauh/ shuddh Shilajit / Shilajit cap/ etc. With this existing combination you are taking. Refrain from any pittwardhak food product during this time frame.

There should be a sign (physically) present at the present, in the sense swelling, pain, bite mark, etc. If any sign is not there and your blood pressure is relatively alright, don't worry at all. Loose motions can be to due to anxiety/ fear. Soak 20 gm quantity of Shirish bark and leaves for 6 hours in water. Prepare the decotion of "Shirish" bark and leaves (approximately 10 gm total) by reducing 10 cups of water to 2 cup only. Take 1 cup of lukewarm water 2 tes a day empty stomach with little honey. Alternatively, you can buy "Shirish kwath"

Vomiting and stomach pain are the common symptoms of all the gut (whole digestive tract) diseases. It is difficult to rule out the exact cause without knowing the details. Please write the details about where do you feel pain exactly in the stomach if we count it from navel, since how long it has been, when and how many vomitings you have, etc. Take light food and lots of water. Avoid fast food, spicy food and stale food. A few stress conditions, acidity and indigestion present with similar symptom.

How to clean teeth. My teeth is yellow. I use synsodyene paste. Tell some home remedy to fullish white teeth.
1. Use Neem datun daily in the morning. No need to do brush with the paste or vigorous rubbing of the teeth and gums. 2. Mix rock salt (saindha namak)- half tsp and lemon juice/ soda powder - 1/4 tsp. Do gentle rubbing on the teeth and gums using the middle finger only. Leave for 2 minutes and clean the mouth. Do this twice weekly. Skip Neem datun for those two days in a week. 3. Do gentle brushing in the night daily before sleeping with any Ayurvedic good tooth paste daily. 4. Oral hygiene is mandatory. Smoking, chewing tobacco, lots of sweetened beverages, too much sweets, alcohol, etc are not good for oral hygiene. 5. Rinse your mouth after main meals with water.

How should I get rid of my red spots like scars caused from acne? Please help me?
Your skin type is required for the remedies. The simplest one is to crush (clean) Neem leaves-5 leaves, lemon juice (2 drops), rose water, raw milk for mixing and multani mitti (1 tsp) in small proportions. Leave on the face for 1 minute only. Wash with normal water. You can do this twice a day. Avoid direct exposure of the face to sunlight and do not touch the scars with nails and bare fingers.
