Follow these simple steps to ensure a good sleep every night and stay away from sleep disorders and other health problems associated with unhealthy sleep habits: 1) maintain a regular sleep routine go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. A good sleep hygiene routine promotes healthy sleep and daytime alertness. 2) avoid sleeping during the daytime. It can disturb the normal pattern. 3) avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol near bedtime. While alcohol may speed the onset of sleep, it creates problems in he second half of sleep. 4) exercise can promote good sleep. Exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. Yoga, can be done before bed to help. 5) have a quiet, comfortable bedroom. Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background'white noise' like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. 6) avoid heavy meals close to bedtime. 7) ensure adequate exposure to natural light. 8) avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Do not think of, or bring your problems to bed. 9) stop using all your digital devices and stop looking at digital screens be it mobile phones or televisions at least 1 hour before the time you plan to sleep. Instead try reading a fiction book near bedtime so it makes you help relaxed and de-stressed. Sleep well live healthy and live longer.

Take jatamansi herbal powder in one gram (1/4th of tea spoon) dose half an hour before bed with warm water daily. Apply cow's ghee on soles of feet before sleep. Also drink one glass of full cream buffalo milk at night. Practice meditation daily. You have to keep your mind away from getting into so many thoughts. This will help you. Try this at least for 15- 20 days. Have a wonderful sleep soon.

My father has diabetes of 235. 4 mg/dl after meal and 151 mg/dl before meal what should he eat and what should he avoid and also what should be his daily routine to control the diabetes. Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When blood glucose is high, kidneys are not able to retain it. So a large quantity is lost in the urine (Glycosuria). This causes exhaustion and weight loss. So to improve health it is absolutely essential to control; diabetes very effectively with FBG<100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c % <7. This needs appropriate drug treatment. Then restricted diet and regular exercise are also equally important. Following things with regard food have to be kept in mind: 1) Avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items and all foods made out of maida. 2) No aerated sweetened drinks (colas), no foods with sweetcorn syrup content. 3) Should increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (100 g a day), 4) Use whole grain flour for roti and chapati 5) Refrain from alcohol and smoking. Plus exercise for at least 1 hour a day. If you have any doubts please come back. It is better if you give all details like current FBG, PP & HbA1c%, dietary habits, extent of execise and come in a private conversation then I will be able to guide specifically. Thanks.

Boil dried amla in coconut oil till the oil turns black in color. Massage your scalp with this oil. This is an effective and very easy home remedy to check hair loss. There are also other ways where we can include amla in our hair care routine. • Use amla and shikakai powder than you can buy in ayurvedic stores. Mix them both and make a paste. Apply this to your hair. Leave it on for a few minutes and wash off after a few minutes. Caution: If you have dry hair, skip the shikakai.

Epilepsy is a serious but treatable condition provided you manage you physical and mental health in a preemptive manner. Having a healthy lifestyl goes far in terms of living a healthier and happier life but will have enormous postive impact on epilepsy management. Epilespy is know to worsen with stress. Therefore idetify those thing that overwhelm you and take measure to reduce it impact on you. Get away from stress inducing situation or people, if possible. Ensure you maitain work life balance, take necessary break during work hours and rest adequately over the weekends. Avoid unnecessary commute and keep your self well hydrated. Sleep routine must be followed like religious practice. Prioritse sleep over everything else and ensure you sleep for atleast 7-8 hours at night. Avoid unncessary coffee, tea and aerated drink and eat a healthy diet. Avoid alcohol. Consider light exercise five to six days per week for 30-45 mins on each of those days. Make sure that you hudrate addtiinally diring and after exercise session. For Prostate problem Insuggest you see and maintain folllow up with a good urologist. Equally, regular follow up with Neurologist for Epilepsy medication and dose optimisation is essential. Remeber, Illnesses are not under your control but lifestyle is matter of choice. Your choices define who you are and the kind of life you will live. Choose well and live well. Best wishes.

Hi Soak 10 almonds over night in water. On the next day, peel off the skin, and blend the almonds in a blender with 1 cup of cow hot milk (or crush them in hot cow milk) and add a little bit of saffron, ginger and cardamon to it. Drink this every morning. Take pranacharya heman syrup 2-2 tsf twice a day. Take pranacharya heman capsule 1-1 twice a day.

Hello Sir, Both your fasting and 2 hour post meal glucose values are high. For good diabetes control fasting glucose should be less than 110 and 2 hour glucose value should be less than 170. Solutions: 1) Diet control- avoid sweets, junk food, oily food etc. Take plenty of vegetables, fruits (orange, mosambi, papaya, apples, pears etc) 2) exercise for 30-45 min everyday or arleast 5 days in a week. Brisk walking, cycling, swimming, jogging are examples. If you have never exercised see a cardiologist first for assessment for fitness to exercise. 3) Lose weight. 4) see you doctor, get the blood tests including HBA1C. Your doctor will change your tablets. Thank you.
