Nowadays good treatment is available for asthma. Inhalers are safe devices to deliver drugs directly to the lungs. Consult your doctor for selection of good drugs for you.

How to improve health without taking medicine and how to get immunity power in the body.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
A good healthy diet is fundamental to good health and a strong immune system. A majority of your diet should be made up of unprocessed, natural foods such as fresh fruits, vegies, legumes, wholegrains, nuts and seeds. Having a well-balanced diet will supply you with all the essential nutrients your body needs for a healthy immune system such as zinc, vitamin a and c, selenium and iron.

Excessive energy intake may also compromise the immune system's ability to fight infection. Reducing fat in the diet is important for weight control but it also seems to influence how well the immune system works. Diets that are high in fat seem to depress the immune response and thus increase the risk of infections. Vitamins A and C help lymphocytes reproduce properly when the body is exposed to a virus, and they enable neutrophils and macrophages to surround and kill invasive bacteria. Vitamin A is also important for strong and healthy skin. Vitamin C, which produces the protein interferon, boosts the cells that seek and destroy disease agents once they're present in the body. Vitamin E helps the immune system by producing interleukin-2, a protein that kills bacteria, viruses, and possibly cancer cells. Interleukin-2 appears in the body as a reaction to being invaded by germs. Sources include wheat germ oil, almonds, peanut butter, spinach, broccoli, kiwi, and mango. Not getting enough zinc in your diet, particularly among vegetarians and people who've reduced their intake of beef, hurts immunity. A lack of zinc, which helps with the development of white bloods, can raise the risk of infections, fevers, coughs, and mucus build up. Just three ounces of lean beef provides about 30 percent of our daily zinc requirement. Other sources include oysters, fortified cereals, pork, poultry, yogurt, and milk. Selenium, found in oysters, lobsters, crabs, and clams, increases the production of proteins called cytokines, according to a small study conducted in Great Britain. Cytokines may help the body fight off viruses that cause influenza. The omega-3 fats found in many seafoods, particularly salmon, have also been shown to increase the concentration of T-cells and cytokines. Yogurt Probiotics are live, healthy cultures found in yogurt that keep the intestinal tract free of germs that cause diseases.

Dear lybrate-user Hi, sorry to hear your bitter experiences and it's also good to share your concern. The history of symptoms you have mentioned is very complex, like Allergy to Vit C, Reflux severe gastritis, Rhinitis, throat itching, Asthma, etc. I'm surprised to hear about non-record keeper experience. Homeopaths are known to be proper case recorders and keepers than any other system of medicine. You also mentioned the symptoms of throat itching started only after the treatment. It may be medicinal aggravation OR superimposed newly infection. I would suggest you to consult an experienced homeopath for better consultation and treatment to achieve proper cure.

I am 23 years old. I have allergy from dust and oil smoke. Please tell me what should I do ?

MS - ENT,MBBS
ENT Specialist, Kolkata
Dust allergy is partly genetic and partly environmental. Thus it never goes away. With better ,less dusty environment  the extent if the problem gets reduced. Medicines help to downregulate the immune response of your body to these environmental allergens. Long term lifestyle  changes with gradually tapering medication  helps to tackle chronic sinus problems.  Start taking Steam inhalation twice a day. *For chronic allergic rhinosinusitis you will need to take a long term course of antibiotics  together  with Nasal sprays . *You will need to avoid dusty environment  and dust mites, animal dander etc. Regular cleaning of AC air filters. Wearing mask while driving 2 wheelers/working in dusty  areas Medical  management  is done for 3 months and then patients  condition is reviewed.  Intermittent treatment is not beneficial  in the long run. Around 30 %of people with allergic rhinitis  will develop Asthma if not treated .But majority of patients with asthma are allergic to dust .Active treatment  of nasal allergy reduces Asthma attacks and medicine requirements. This improve  quality of life .allergens.
