Im 20years old I have knee joint problem and I do not know why. What are all the food I should hav for that to improve it.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. Your knee pain could be due to certain reasons but common ones are chondromalacia, pain due to knee instability, inflammation etc. If there is no history of any injury, and no s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness or local warmth on touching, then I will like to advise you for conservative management initially in form of: - intensive physical therapy with focus on strengthening of quadriceps and stretching of other group of muscles - gentle anti inflammatory medications like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol for 5-7 days usually helps in such cases - adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per requirement - ice packs at home for 3-4 times in a day and see how it goes for around 2 weeks time. If your condition does not improve, then we will have to get certain investigations done. Also there are no foods as such which may help to give pain relief although I would suggest calcium rich foods for you to keep bone metabolism healthy.

you are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medications which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we might have to get some investigations like dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Revert back.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - some blood tests like serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp help in better diagnosis of such condition. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

The shoulder pain which you are feeling could be due to many reasons, it can be due to tendinitis, rotator cuff issues, pain of cervical spine origin radiating to your upper limbs, or any other inflammatory or infective pathology etc. But if there is no swelling, or any other s/s of inflammation etc, then you can start with: - intensive physical therapy for your shoulder initially - take an anti inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - ice packs for local application 3-4 times in a day - avoid physical activity which increases your pain etc let me know in 2-3 weeks time otherwise we will have to get a few investigations like blood tests, x rays or mri scan for further diagnosis and management.

My age is 20, I fill a shoulder pain every day, that faced a problem any time. Please tell me what should I do to relief from this pain?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi We need to actually find out what could be the cause of persistent pain in your case, I need to know whether there was a h/o injury to the affected shoulder, apart from pain do you also have any associated swelling, skin redness, local warmth etc as well? if above symptoms are not there, then in my opinion you can start with intensive physical therapy, anti inflammatory medications, precautions for the shoulder as advised and let us see how you respond in next 7-10 days, otherwise we will have to get a few investigations done for further evaluation.

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS

Hi If you have no h/o and injury, then this swelling could be a manifestation of an inflammatory reaction of a bursa. Can you send me a clinical picture pointing to the swelling and also get a few blood tests like cbc, esr, crp, serum uric acid done and send them across to me so that I can see and advise accordingly
