Loss of hair from the scalp, one of the most common problems plaguing the world today, can be caused by a variety of factors such as genetics, disorders and environmental factors. There are a number of homeopathic treatments that are used to treat hair loss. These treatments focus on the cause of the disease rather than just treating the symptoms.

Hair loss can be classified as -

1. Telogen effluvium: This is a disorder of the hair growth cycle where the telogen phase (where the hair falls out) becomes dominant.

2. Alopecia aorta: This is an autoimmune disorder where the immune cells of the body destroy the hair. Hair loss tends to occur in patches.

3. Androgenic alopecia: This type of disorder is caused by hormonal and genetic factors resulting in a receding hairline.

The various homeopathic treatments for hair loss are -

1. Silica

Silica is used to treat a number of diseases in homeopathy. Besides being an effective remedy for hair loss, it is also treat symptoms of vitiligo, nail problems and eczema.

2. Phosphorus

Phosphorus is another homeopathic treatment that is used to treat hair loss. It promotes hair growth in spots where hair loss has occurred.

3. Kaliumcarbonicum

This treatment is used for brittle and thinning hair as it enhances hair growth. It is usually recommended for people with various forms of alopecia.

4. Lycopodium

This treatment is prescribed for people who suffer from premature balding. It is also recommended for pregnant women if they suffer from hair loss.

5. Natrummuriaticum

This homeopathic remedy is made from sodium chloride and used to treat hair problems resulting from skin complications. It is also recommended for women who face hair loss from menstrual problems. It treats dandruff and hair disorders due to hormonal imbalances.

6. Sulfur

Panic Disorder - All You Should Know About It!

Panic Disorder - All You Should Know About It!

Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by reoccurring unexpected panic attacks. Panic attacks are sudden periods of intense fear that may include palpitation, sweating, shaking, shortness of breath, numbness, or a feeling that something really bad is going to happen.

How do we know the symptoms are of panic disorder?

Panic disorder symptoms are primarily centered around panic attacks.

• Panic attacks often consist of a pounding heart, sweatiness, a feeling of weakness, faintness, or dizziness. The hands may tingle or feel numb, the person may feel flushed or chilled.

• There can be chest pain or smothering sensations, a sense of unreality, a fear of impending doom, or loss of control.

• The person may genuinely believe they are having a heart attack or stroke, losing their mind, or on the verge of death. The most important and considerable point is the occurrence of symptoms without any known pathological reasons.

Why it occurs?

There is chemical imbalance within the limbic system and one of its regulatory chemicals GABA-A. The reduced production of GABA-A sends false information to the amygdala which regulates the body's "fight or flight" response mechanism and, in return, produces the physiological symptoms that lead to the disorder. This chemical imbalance occurs due to stress.

Is panic disorder serious?

Yes, panic attacks are real and potentially quite emotionally disabling. Fortunately, they can be controlled with specific treatments. Because of the disturbing physical signs and symptoms that accompany panic attacks, they may be mistaken for heartattacks or some other life-threatening medical problem.

Can panic disorder be cured?

Yes it is curable, the homoeopathic medicine balances the trigger release of neurochemicals and relives the symptoms on the other hand coginitive behavior therapy make you able to tackle these attacks. So homoeopathy along with behavior therapy is very effective and curative also.

At lastThe impact on social and personal life

After some time, a person with a panic disorder builds up a consistent fear of having another fit of anxiety, which can influence the every day functioning and lifestyle in general. Panic disorder usually occurs alongside other conditions like depression, liquor abuse, or drug abuse. While a single panic attack may just last a couple of minutes, the impact of the experience can leave a long lasting impression and make you susceptible to more such attacks.

In case you have this issue, the repetitive fits of panic take an emotional toll. The memory of the fear that you felt during these attacks can affect your self-confidence and cause interruption to your regular day-to-day existence. In the end, this prompts to the following panic disorder effects:

1. Expectant uneasiness: Instead of feeling like yourself in the middle of panic attacks, you feel tensed and on edge. This uneasiness originates from a dread of having future attacks of anxiety. This fear is seen more often than not, and can be extremely disabling at times.

2. Phobic avoidance: You start to stay away from specific circumstances or situations. This might happen since you are maintaining a strategic distance because of your previous panic attack. On the other hand, you may stay away from areas where escape would be troublesome or help would be inaccessible in case you had a fit of panic.

Natural Ways To Help You Manage Your Sleep!

Natural Ways To Help You Manage Your Sleep!

If you suffer from sleeplessness or disrupted sleep at night, you should consider undertaking Ayurvedic measures to deal with the problem. The principle of Ayurveda states that proper sleep is a very important part of maintaining a good health, and any compromise with it could lead to complications.

There are several Ayurvedic principles that you can adopt in order to improve your sleep. They are as follows:

Maintain a disciplined sleep schedule

  • It is important for you to be disciplined regarding your sleep.
  • Your mind remains dull and slow from 6 pm to 10pm. This is an ideal time for sleeping.
  • You should sleep early, which will enable you to sleep well throughout the night, and wake up early the next morning.

Mindful eating

  • Try having dinner by 7 pm. Your digestive system cools down as the sun begins to set.
  • Having an early meal allows proper digestion, which is important for positive sleep.
  • While eating any meal, you should not concentrate on any other thing except for food.

Oil massage

  • Oil massage therapy, especially a massage on your feet with herbal oils, is an effective Ayurvedic remedy to improve sleep.
  • There are several nerve endings in your feet, which are nourished during such an oil massage.
  • Massaging relieves stress, improves your blood circulation, makes you calm and relaxed, and lets you sleep at length.

Pranayama

  • This is another important Ayurvedic way of improving your sleep.
  • You need to practice several rounds of Nadi Shodhana Pranayama on a regular basis, which involves alternate nostril breathing.
  • This method helps in calming down your nervous system, soothes your mind, and thus results in a deeper and better sleep.

Practice self-compassion

  • Ayurvedic principles state that your wellness and health depend on a proper balance between your mind, body, and soul.
  • While some people make us feel positive, other people drain us emotionally, leaving us cranky and annoyed.
  • You should be mindful over whom and about what you interact with before going to sleep. Always try to stay in a positive environment away from any negative factors.
  • Abstain from engrossing on social media activity, watching television, or browsing on your cell phone two hours before going to bed.

It is also necessary for you to work out on a regular basis and keep physically fit and healthy. A healthy body ensures a healthy mind, which in turn, is important for improved sleep. Avoid having coffee or any form of stimulant after 3 pm in the afternoon.

Plantars Fasciitis - How To Get Rid Of It?

Plantars Fasciitis - How To Get Rid Of It?

Plantars Fasciitis is an orthopaedic problem that gives rise to pain in the foot and heel due to strain or pressure on the plantar fascia. This is a ligament or connective tissue which lies in a flat band, connecting your heel with the toes and effectively, providing a basis for motion of the feet in general. Inflammation, swelling and bruising of this tissue or ligament can lead to excessive pain in the heel.

Let us look at ways that can help you deal with this pain.

-Rest: Taking rest and giving your feet a break from all kinds of strain inducing activities can help in relieving the pain. Also, you can keep your feet elevated to help in reducing the pain in the area.

-Supportive Footwear: Using pads within your shoes with gel built into them, or using specific foot wear that help in walking without feeling too much of pain is a good way of dealing with Plantars Fasciitis. The shoe inserts must be rubber, felt or plastic so that they are soft for the feet. These also give your heel and its arch good support, while Orthotics pull at the ligament so that there is less stress on the same. You can also pull on a pair of night flints which will keep the foot and this ligament stretched while you enjoy a good night of sleep.

-Exercise: Indulging in mild muscle strengthening exercise that also involves stretches and heel hooks can help in alleviating chronic pain that you may be suffering from. Lie flat on your back and take a towel. Lift your leg and hook your foot into it. Now press against the towel and pull down the towel simultaneously. Repeat at least ten times per foot. This will give you flexibility and strength in the area.

-Pain Killers: Use pain killers only when absolutely necessary and with due advice from the doctor or Orthopaedic specialist. The use of Ibuprofen and other pain relievers can help in numbing the pain inducing nerves in the brain and give you instant relief.

-Anti Inflammatory Drugs: Your doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory medication that can bring down the swelling for more comfortable functioning when you are on your feet. Naproxen is one such drug that helps in bringing down the inflammation. Also, corticosteroid injections can relieve severe pain.

-Surgery: Heel spur removal or plantar fascia release are some of the surgical options for chronic and severe cases.

Taking care of your feet is a matter of ensuring that you look into the slightest discomfort and report the same to a doctor.

5 Ways You Can Prevent Asthma Attack!

5 Ways You Can Prevent Asthma Attack!

Asthmatic patients often find that the frequency and intensity of asthma attacks increase with a change in weather, as the challenges two-fold for asthmatic patients. If they are indoors, they inhale triggers such as dust mites, mould etc. and if they step outdoors, the outside air acts as a trigger for an asthmatic attack. However, there are ways to make your life easier.

  1. Curb allergy triggers inside your house: While you can’t do much about the weather, you can control the environment inside your house. Limit your time around pets that could trigger an attack and try keeping them outside the bedroom. Use dust proof covers on mattresses and pillows and changes your bedding regularly. Though it may look cosier, avoid using a lot of pillows and throw cushions on your bed. Clean and replace the filters of your home’s heating or cooling system before you start it up for the first time. The filters should also be regularly checked and cleaned throughout the winter.
  2. Ventilate the house: Keep your house dry and cool at all times to prevent the growth of mould and dust mites. To do this, run an exhaust fan in the bathroom while having a shower and in the kitchen while cooking. As far as possible, do not dry clothes indoors.
  3. Avoid too cold or too hot air: As far as possible avoid going outdoors especially on windy days. Instead of going for a walk outdoors, exercise at home or in a gym. When you go outdoors, drape a scarf over the lower half of your face to cover your nose and mouth. This will ensure that you do not breathe in too cold air or too hot air.
  4. Breathe correctly: As children, we’re told to keep our mouths closed. Not only is this good social etiquette, but it also prevents you from breathing through your mouth. The nostrils have tiny hair inside them that act as filters and keep dust particles and pollen from being inhaled. This also warms up the air while being inhaled. Thus avoid breathing through your mouth and instead only breathe through your nose.
  5. Take your medications: Create an effective plan of action to be followed in case of an asthmatic attack and get regular check-ups throughout the season. If you notice your symptoms worsening as the weather gets colder, talk to your doctor about changing your medication and its dosage. Do not skip your medication or stop it unless your doctor tells you to.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) - 3 Treatment Options For It!

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) - 3 Treatment Options For It!

The anterior cruciate ligament is one of the most delicate yet vital ligaments that holds the knee bones in place and stabilizes the movement. Injury to the ligament, on account of a sprain, can prove to be a cause of severe distress. This may lead to a partial or a complete destabilization of the knee joints and impair the normal movements to a great extent.

Causes
Some of the most common causes of this sort of a ligament tear are accidental injuries during a sporting activity, unexpected collision or incorrect body postures. This is a fairly common occurrence among the athletes. However, the physiological and neuromuscular controls make women more susceptible to damage to the Anterior Cruciate Ligament than men.

There are two cruciate ligaments in our body, i.e. the anterior and the posterior cruciate ligaments. They run in crosses to connect the insides of the knee joints. They regulate the back and forth movement of your knees. They therefore, may incur substantial damage through sudden movements like jerks or an abrupt change of direction; the degree of tear may vary from minor strains to complete detachment. Accordingly, treatments are available to cure the distress. The treatments may either be surgical or nonsurgical, depending about the extent of the injury as well as the age of the patient. A complete tear in the ligament necessitates surgery for recovery. However, one may choose to opt for other non - surgical methods to minimize the damage.

Some of the most effective treatments for a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament have been enlisted below:
1. Bracing: Wearing a brace or using a crutch for the purpose of movement can accord the knees with some stability. It also keeps the joints intact and alleviates pain.
2. Physiotherapy: Once the inflammation reduces, you may opt for physiotherapy to restore movement and reduce the pain. Heat and Ice therapies work as ideal adjuvants to physiotherapy in such cases.
3. Surgery: Regrowth of the anterior cruciate ligament may be possible through a surgical process of grafting. This enables the tissues to repair themselves. Knee caps and adequate rest accord better rehabilitation. The recovery is faster and steadier in this process.

Diabetes - 3 Myths Decoded!

Diabetes - 3 Myths Decoded!

Diabetes is something which has become so common over the past few decades and this is said to be a cause of worry as most people don't understand how to prevent and manage it. This has led to some myths, gaining more than their fair share of popularity. So, wouldn’t it be a good idea to get to know a little more so as to separate the myths from the facts?

  1. Weight & watch: One of the most common myths when it comes to diabetes is the belief that a person is going to have his or her life adversely affected if he or she is overweight. While it is true that being overweight happens to be one of the risk factors related to diabetes, it is important to keep in mind the fact that there are other risk factors which are responsible, as well. Some of these factors are age and family history, as well as the ethnicity of the person. Taking this into account, it should not come as too much of a surprise to know that there are quite a few people who are not overweight, but are still fighting diabetes.
  2. Packaged tricks: Considering the rise in the number of people who are suffering from diabetes, this has led to food being marketed specifically for their consumption. However, in reality, whatever represents a healthy diet is sufficient for a person who is diabetic. So a diet which does not have a high amount of saturated fats and trans fats and does not go overboard with starch and sugar, but features a fair amount of lean protein works well too. All the fancy diabetic food, which a person buys, is only likely to drive a great hole in the wallet and not have any additional health benefits. Therefore, the extra spending is nowhere close to being worthwhile and should be avoided.
  3. Fruits punch: Many people are of the opinion that it is the processed and sugary food items, which cause diabetes and this is true to a significant extent. However, some people are of the view that since fruit is natural, diabetics can eat as much of it as they like. This is where the thinking gets dangerous. Some fruits are rich in carbohydrates and so it should be consumed in a reasonable quantity, as part of the daily meal plan. After all, too much of any good thing is bad!

Revision Joint Replacement - Do You Need It?

Revision Joint Replacement - Do You Need It?

Thousands of people are affected with a painful knee which troubles their lives directly. Due to a weak or inflated knee, they cannot continue to carry on with their activities which they do have been doing regularly. A total knee replacement is required in many such cases, which is one of the most popular and successful ways to provide relief from chronic knee pain.

But in many cases, a successful total knee replacement is not possible due to various reasons and in that case, the people need to undergo another replacement, called Revision Joint Replacement.

What is Revision Joint Replacement?

As we mentioned in the above section that total knee replacement is successfully carried out in most cases but there are also many in which it is not possible. Other than that, even if a successful total replacement is made, overtime different problems related to it may arise like wearing of thr implant or adjustment of the original parts as well. So, another replacement is recommended to fix these problems and this is popularly known as Revision Joint Replacement.

Revision joint replacement is often much more complicated than total knee replacement. This is because the process deals with bringing changes to the already replaced knee and therefore, any kind of mishandling can lead to serious knee problems. Let us have a look at the different reasons because of which revision knee replacement is carried out.

Why Revision Knee Replacement Done?

The reasons because of which a revision joint replacement may need to be performed include:

● One of the very important reasons is worn out implants. Even though implants are designed to support the knees for a long time, due to various reasons and activities of the individual, these implants gets worn out and needs to be replaced.

Infection is one of the biggest risks in joint replacement surgery which will seriously affect the whole health of the person. If over time any kind of infection is likely to develop due to improper care or negligence of any initial infection symptoms around the postoperative area, revision replacement is done to help the individual.

● If it is found out that the implants are becoming unstable with time, you must understand that you will need a revision joint replacement. When the implants are not occupying a proper position or have been dislocated due to some reason, the implants will need to be placed in the right area once again.

So, these are the various reasons because of which revision knee replacement is important. If you read the article carefully you will understand that even though revision replacement has its risks, it is quite beneficial and convenient for the people too carry on with their activities.

Treating Scabies With Homeopathy - Why Go For It?

Scabies is an infection of the skin that is caused by an incredibly tiny mite ‘Sarcoptes scabiei’. They thrive on the surface of the epidermis and can survive up to two months. The outward symptoms include itchy, blister-like hives on the surface of the skin.
It is tremendously infectious and can easily be passed from one individual to another via skin contact. Usage of bedding or clothing that is infested may easily cause the mites to infect one.

Characteristic symptoms comprise of rashes and extreme itching. Areas of the body that get infected are:

  1. Face
  2. Hands
  3. Neck
  4. Soles of the feet
  5. Armpits
  6. Elbow
  7. Buttocks
  8. Waist

Homeopathic treatment

  1. Arsenic album: This medication is used when the eruptions emerge on the knees. Eruptions are the numerous dry small pustules which are accompanied by a very strong burning and itching sensation.
  2. Carbo veg: This is administered when the condition has a parched appearance almost all over the body, particularly bad on the extremities. The itching sensation gets worse at night or after undressing.
  3. Hepar Sulph and Sepia: It is used when the rashes develop near the folds of the skin. The flare-ups are usually hard and ooze pus. Another situation that warrants the usage of this medicine is when the patient becomes extremely uncomfortable in cold environments.
