ADHD And Its Symptoms!

ADHD And Its Symptoms!

ADHD or Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder refers to those psychological disorders, which significantly alter a child's behavior and considerably affects his or her relationships with others. This condition is seldom preceded by perceptible symptoms and even when they do, they are difficult to decipher. However some of them are:

  1. Self-centered: Those children who suffer from the attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome tend to be encapsulated in their own subjectivity. Though this does seem harmless apparently, this tendency may lead them to be insensitive to other's needs and wants.
  2. Emotional outbursts: ADHD makes children extremely susceptible to frequent emotional outbursts and makes them erratic.
  3. Difficulty in concentration: Children who suffer from ADHD face extreme difficulty in concentrating or focusing on things. Many a times they fail to repeat what was told to them.

There might be several causes which can contribute to the development of this disorder. Some of them are:

  1. A drastic change in the child's lives: A sudden or a drastic change like the divorce of parents may severely affect the child and maim him emotionally. This may lead to the development of this disorder.
  2. DepressionThough always associated with adults, depression can be and is common among children as well. In such instances, a consequent development of ADHD is highly plausible.
  3. Bipolar disorderBipolar disorder refers to excessive and incomprehensible mood swings. Many children suffer from it in their early lives, making them susceptible to ADHD.

Notwithstanding the ambiguity and the erratic nature of the disorder, there might be preventive measures which parents might adopt to deter the outbreak of the disorder. Some of them are:

  1. Less use of preservatives: Parents must be careful about what their children eat. Those foods which contain a certain amount of preservatives tend to aggravate the disorder thereby causing more harm than good.
  2. Consider alternative forms of medications: Another way of dealing with this problem is by exploring other forms of medications and not sticking to one form. In this respect, practicing yoga may be very beneficial.

Is your baby in a daycare/creche? are you in a joint family? usually babies this age catch various viral infections as cough and cold with or without fever from other children or adult contacts. This is usually acceptable so long as they continue to grow normally and are not anemic. Each episode should be treated symptomatically.

Hello doctor my relatives girl baby was affected by canavan disease. What the treatment available for that?
It is a genetic disease and hence there is no treatment for cure and we should plan treatment for symptomatic relief and do palliative management and even life is not more than 10 years and giving 2.5mg folicacid tablet will be helpful lifelong

Rice based items like idli, porridge, soft cooked rice etc with less spices will help to increase the consistency of stools. Curd is also useful.

My baby boy is 2 months old. Now a days he is not sleeping well. And his weight is 5 kg now. 3.4 kg is his birth weight. I'm in doubt that is my milk is sufficient for him. Please let me know.

The weight should be around 5.6 kg. But 5 kg is not bad. Do not worry mothers milk is never insufficient. Peoples wrong advice makes it insufficient and that too in mothers mind. If the child gains atleast 15gms/day than do not worry. Also if the child passes 6-7 times urine and goes back to sleep after feeding than he is fine and geting enough milk. Always feed and empty one breast fully before going to another breast as the breast foremilk is rich in water and the hind milk is rich in protein and fat. Happy Feeding.

This is very tender age n r more prone to develop complications. He has taken already antibiotics for more than sufficient time with no satisfaction results. It is advisable to consult pediatrician for proper examination n tt. U can safely instill saline nasal drop in each nostrils 3 to 4 times in a day.
