Brain Damage - Causes & Symptoms Of It!

Regardless of whether the cause is a tumor, trauma, stroke or any other illness, any injury which inflicts damage on your brain cells is considered to be a brain damage.

There are two types of brain damage, both of which interfere with the standard functioning of the brain.
They are:

  1. Acquired brain injury (ABI): Either resulting from a tumor or a neurological illness, for instance a stroke, this type of brain injury originates from the cellular level and is commonly linked with brain pressure.
  2. Traumatic brain injury (TBI): It results from any damage imparted to the skull usually from an external and physical force like a blow to the head or a head accident, which in turn damages the brain.

How severe the brain damage is depends largely on the type of brain injury. Mild brain injuries are temporary, causing headaches, memory lapses, nausea and confusion. On the other hand, severe brain injuries cause cognitive, physical and behavioral impairments which are often life-changing and permanent.

Causes:
Acquired brain injuries may be caused by:

  1. Poisoning
  2. Being exposed to toxic substances
  3. Choking, strangulation or drowning
  4. Heart attacks
  5. Infections
  6. Stroke
  7. Tumors
  8. Neurological illnesses
  9. Aneurysms
  10. Illegal drug abuse

Traumatic brain injuries are usually caused by:

  1. Car accidents
  2. Sports injuries
  3. Physical violence
  4. Head blows
  5. Falls and other mishaps

Symptoms:
Whether acquired or traumatic, symptoms of brain damage can be classified under four major groups:

1.  Cognitive symptoms generally include

  • Having a hard time processing information or expressing thoughts
  • Difficulty in understanding others or abstract concepts
  • Indecisiveness
  • Memory loss
  • Short attention spans

2.  Physical symptoms generally include

3.  Perceptual symptoms generally include

  • Spatial disorientation
  • Smell and taste disorders
  • Heightened pain sensitivity
  • Changes in hearing, seeing, or touch sensations
  • Unable to perceive time
  • Balance problems

4.  Emotional or behavioral symptoms generally include

  • Decreased stress tolerance
  • Heightened or flattened reactions or emotions
  • Aggressiveness
  • Sluggishness
  • Impatience and irritability
  • Self-denial

Open Heart Surgery - Things You Should Expect From It!

Open Heart Surgery - Things You Should Expect From It!

One of the crucial types of surgery is the heart surgery, which is commonly known as the bypass. It is a type of surgery in which the chest is cut, and surgery is done on valves, muscles, and heart arteries. As per the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, it is one of the most common types of surgeries, which is performed on adults. During this surgery, the prime focus is to remove the blockage from the heart so that fresh blood can easily flow into the heart. No doubt that this process is critical, but it is easily true that after the surgery you have to take extra care of yourself.

Talking of which, here are certain things that you can expect after the surgery.

  1. Moved To ICU: The moment, the surgery is done, you will be moved to the Intensive Care Unit where the person’s health conditions will be monitored, vital signs will be checked, and medical professional will frequently visit to make sure that the patient is just doing fine. Once the surgery is over, you may not wake up quickly, but you will continue to breathe through the breathing tube. About food, of course, you will not be allowed to take solid food, but there is an intravenous (IV) needle will be put in a blood vessel in your chest and arm from which you will be given fluids.
  2. Recovery At Home: Once you are given the discharge, your focus should be to get recovered quickly. Recovery at home entirely depends on the heart problem for which the surgery was done. Of course, the doctor will give you necessary instructions with regards to healing incision, dealing with after effect is and understanding the signs of complications. Follow up the medicines and attend the appointments as advised to keep track of your health condition. You may face some after effects such as appetite loss, constipation and sleeping problem. If there is any complication, make sure you speak with a doctor about the same immediately.
  3. Ongoing Care Is Important Too: Once the surgery is over, as said, you will have to go for frequent checkup with your doctor. During these visits, your doctor will tell you to get blood, stress test and electrocardiogram done, which will assess the working condition of the heart. You might also be given few blood-thinning medicine and bring certain changes in lifestyle and medicine.

There are certain phases of recovery which will take time eventually. The first phase is the lengthy one that can last for around 6-8 weeks. Once you get a discharge from the hospital, you will be given instructions that you must follow with good care. This will pace up the healing process and make the process better.

Hello, Low salt levels and intake of anti hypertensive medicines are not the only solution to control Blood pressure fluctuations but you need to have a balanced diet rich in good nutrients, fibre rich food, fruits, food items such as fenugreek, garlic, bananas, potatoes (with cutting off other carbohydrates), dairy products, flaxseeds, whole grains should be taken in your diet to lower the risk of high blood pressure. Kindly drink plenty of water and drink minimum 2 glass of water early morning on waking up. Sleep should be adequate and you should avoid stress if any by distracting your mind be it by listening to music, watching a light movie or having a good sleep. Exercise like yoga is quite beneficial in high BP. Homoeopathy has proven to be very well effective in hypertension cases. Kindly consult a good homoeopathic doctor near you or contact me for further information and prescription of your case. Tc.

Eat healthily. Eating the right type of diet can lower your risk for high blood pressure or help you return to normal blood pressure. Clinical studies show that a diet high in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, whole grains, poultry, fish, and nuts really works. You also need to avoid fats, red meat, and excess sugar.

Any kind of aerobic exercise is helpful — things like swimming, jogging, anything that gets the heart rate up and helps you to lose weight, says Dr. Hillis. In fact, such exercise may mean less damage from future strokes.

BHMS

You need to check TSH, CBC, LFT at some lab. Also do an ECG. HOW is your appetite. For migraine 1. Take adequate night sleep 2. Eat at regular intervals. As starvation/gas can trigger migrain 3. Avoid things that can trigger migrain. Common triggers include alcohol, caffeine or poor sleep. Inculcate good sleep practices like having a regular bedtime schedule and avoiding naps, caffeine and TV before bedtime. 4. Don't take stress- Pursue an enjoyable activity or verbalising frustration to reduce stress and improve mental health. 5. Avoid foods that you know triggers your migrain. 6. Hot packs and heating pads can relax tense muscles. Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect 7. Drink water. “Dehydration can be a big cause of headaches,” For this homeopathic treatment is very effective For more details you can consult me.
