Ovarian cancer k vaccination karna chahiye? Is vaccination help to avoid this cancer cost of this vaccination?

BHMS
Homeopath, Noida
If you r asking for yourself (age-36) then its useless. It should be taken before you become sexually active. Doctors stop recommending the HPV vaccine to women once they've reached their mid-20s. The human papillomavirus vaccine is FDA-approved only through age 26, with the thinking that by that time women (and men) have had enough sex that they're probably already exposed to the virus and won't benefit. However you should annually get your PAP smear done.

Prostate Cancer - Things You Should Know About It!

Cancer is the most dangerous disease noticeable throughout the world. The most common type of cancer that affects men is prostate cancer. Prostate is a small exocrine gland situated directly below the bladder and in front of the rectum. This is gland is approximately in size of a walnut and plays an important role in production of a milky fluid during orgasm of sex in which the semen travels. During the climax stage of the prostate gland is forced to push the fluid and remove the semen out of the reproductive structures.

Prostate gland is a slow progressive disease which makes many males left unidentified even the presence of prostate cancer even until they die. 6 out of 100 male over the age of 60 are getting prostate cancer. Though prostate cancer can be cured at a better rate when compared to other type of cancer it is always best to stay protected. Prevention is always better than cure. Here are few tips to keep your prostate healthy.

Signs and symptoms of prostate cancer-

During the early stages of prostate cancer there are usually no symptoms. Most men at this stage find out they have prostate cancer after a routine check up or blood test. When symptoms do exist, they are usually one or more of the following:

  1. The patient urinates more often

  2. The patient gets up at night more often to urinate

  3. He may find it hard to start urinating

  4. He may find it hard to keep urinating once he has started

  5. There may be blood in the urine

  6. Urination might be painful

  7. Ejaculation may be painful (less common)

  8. Achieving or maintaining an erection may be difficult (less common).

If the prostate cancer is advanced the following symptoms are also possible:

  1. Bone pain, often in the spine (vertebrae), pelvis, or ribs

  2. The proximal part of the femur can be painful

  3. Leg weakness

  4. Urinary incontinence

  5. Fecal incontinence

Ways to have a healthy prostate –

  1. Diet and weight – the most important factor is the diet to maintain a healthy weight. Avoid fatty food items and take fats from vegetables than from animals. Avoid dairy products and increase the intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.

  2. Exercise – have a regular practise of doing exercise at least for 30mins a day. This really helps you to keep your body fit.

  3. Be precautious – if you have a family history of prostate cancer or if you feel you are at high risk of getting prostate cancer talk with your doctor about it and take preventive drugs as per the doctor’s advice.

  4. Red foods – research shows that men who consume red foods like watermelon, tomato and other red fruits are at lower risk of getting prostate cancer as they contain a powerful antioxidant called lycopene

  5. Caffeine – three to four cups of coffee per day reduces your risk of getting prostate cancer.

  6. Stop smoking – if you are at high risk of getting prostate cancer it is best advised to quit smoking and alcohol.

Cervical Cancer: 9 Symptoms And Its Treatment!

Cervical Cancer: 9 Symptoms And Its Treatment!

Cervical cancer is a form of cancer which occurs in the cervix or the lower part of the uterus in women, which opens up into the vagina. Its different from the other cancers that occur in other parts of the uterus and has a high rate of being cured if detected early.

Causes of Cervical Cancer: Cervical cancer is usually caused when abnormal cells present in the cervix, get out of control. Usually, major cases of cervical cancer are caused by a virus known as the human papillomavirus or HPV. This virus gets transmitted from one person to another by sexual means or sexual contact. Abnormal changes in the cervix cells lead to cervical cancer. Usually, cell changes occur in the transformation zone in the cervix as the cells tend to change constantly, thereby leading to cancer.

Symptoms:

  1. Abnormal vaginal bleeding between menstrual phases, after menopause or after having sex.
  2. Pain is experienced during sex.
  3. Abnormal vaginal discharge is produced.
  4. Abnormal changes in the menstrual cycle.
  5. Anemia due to abnormal bleeding from the vagina.
  6. Recurring pain in the pelvis, back or leg.
  7. Several urinary problems due to the blockage of the uterus.
  8. Urine or stool leakage into the vagina.
  9. Loss of weight.

How it can be diagnosed?
A routine screening test should be undertaken to observe any abnormal cell changes in the cervix and also for the screening for cervical cancer. Taking regular Pap smear test is recommended to detect abnormal cell changes so that cervical cancer can be prevented before hand. Other diagnostic tests include, Colposcopy and cervical biopsy to determine the presence of abnormal cells in the cervix, Endocervical biopsy and Cone biopsy.

Treatment options available:
Cervical cancer can be treated when detected at an early stage. The type of treatment depends on the stage and type of cervical cancer. The most common treatment methods are as follows:

  1. Surgery can be undertaken for removal of the cancer. Several types of surgeries exist and the ideal one depends on the location and severity of the cervical cancer.
  2. Radiation therapy involves the use of high dosage X-rays and implants within the vaginal cavity. This kills the cancer cells and is used in some specific stages of cervical cancer. This therapy is often used alongside surgery.
  3. Chemo-radiation is a combination of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. This procedure can be used at various stages of cervical cancer.
  4. Chemotherapy involves using medicines for killing cancer cells. It is used in advanced stages of cervical cancer.

Pelvic cancer is caused by abnormal cell changes in the pelvis. It is a common kind of cancer and can cause negative effects on the health. Proper diagnosis and treatment are essential for treating pelvic cancer. Cervical cancer is one of the cancers for which vaccine for prevention is available. Young girls from teenage & older women upto 45 yrs can take this vaccine. It should be taken after consulting a gynecologist.

You can continue medicine as long as you are comfortable with it. Usually medicine for prostate continue for longer duration. Meet a gastroenterologist for black stools. Urimax d does not cause this.

Hi, My father was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer with bone met. PSA> 1,000 And Gleason 8 & 9. Have consulted a few renowned doctors in New Delhi but their suggested medications are different. Some suggest Caluran 50 while others Abiraterone prednisone. I need some hard facts to choose the best option. Thank you.

M.ch - Surgical Oncologist
Oncologist, Mumbai
Your father has metastatic ca prostate. He requires hormonal therapy first- medical or surgical. Medical therapy includes 1 injection every 3 to 6 months and caluran 50 mg along with it. Surgical means castration (removing both testis by surgery). Depending on his response to hormonal therapy he can be planned for further management like chemo, abiraterone etc.
