Hi, Multiple ivf failures due to implantation failure. Carrier screening done. Both of us are found to be carrier of limb girdle muscular dystrophy (AR). Advised to go for fresh cycle of ivf with pgd. What is the success rate of having a normal baby. Is this a cause of implantation failure. We both are affected with this disease.

Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery, M.S Obstetrics & Gynecology
Gynaecologist, Chandigarh
Dear lybrate-user, Sad to know your problem. As you both are having AR LGMD, then there is 25% chances that the resulting embryo could be AD and in that case will be symptomatic, otherwise you have 75% chances of carrying either a normal baby or carrier state which is otherwise phenotypically normal. Yes, even AR defect can lead to implantation failure and you should go for PGD. Hope this helps.

Hi, I think you can try 3 more cycles of IUI. The chance of pregnancy in one cycle of IUI is 10 to 15 percent. If it doesn't work, then you have to go for IVF. Hope I have answered your question. Regards

Hello, Thanks for the query. A lady with diabetes can get get pregnant and deliver a healthy child, but a few precautions need to be taken - 1) Shift to Insulin once pregnancy is confirmed. 2) Blood glucose has to be maintained between 90 to 120 mg throughout the pregnancy. 3) Higher glucose levels can harm the fetal brain growth, later there may be large baby and pregnancy outcome can be bad. If all these points are kept in mind and blood glucose is maintained as mentioned, then there will be no problem. Consult a good diabetologist locally. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user you should plan follicular study with planned relations initially with ovulation induction. Provided tubes are normal and normal sperm count. First get few blood tests done to do as to correct it.

Do some basic tests like hormonal tests for you to see the ovarian reserve and normal levels, tubal patency test, an a routine usg to rule out any pelvic structural problems. Your husband should have a semen analysis done. Subject to the reports you can try iui for some cycles or try ivf if the ovarian reserve is less.

Issue for not having baby from last 5 months. So we want some advice or anything else related to this.

Pregnancy can occur only one day of cycle that is ovulation day so unprotected sex around that day only important. As only one day in month nature should be given 12-24 trials (12 to 24 months) before you need any active management by Gynecologist or infertility specialist.
