I have a problem of getting anger so much on some one. What I want to do to stop it.

Psychologist, Palakkad
Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. Anger and aggression are emotions. Anger comes when you become irritated. Irritation happens when you don't like something, or when something is repeated. As anger is an emotion, it should be vent out. You should be able to throw anger out instead of controlling it. But more perfect will be, know the frustrating situations and stop being emotional. If practiced properly, you will not get irritated at those circumstances at all. Those techniques are much easier to understand. Take care.

I have a diagnosis of depression and also generated anxiety disorder. I currently take Zoloft 100mg daily. Also Depakote 250mg 2 tabs every night as it makes me very drowsy. I've had a trial month of my psychiatrist taking me off of the Depakote and I believe I was extremely moody and very emotional the entire month. When I am taking the Depakote I feel better but my boyfriend describes my mood as up and down up and down throughout the day. He feels I am very moody. Which I feel contributes a negative impact on our relationship. I have a dx of PTSD r/t the tragic death of my husband. He passed in 2007 and the only medication I ever took while married was an antidepressant. After his death is when all these emotions and depression started and I've been treated for the last almost 9 years on July 31st. My anxiety is so extreme that I get extremely nervous to go to public functions and even family functions. I will have a panic attack causing me to feel like my blood sugar plumes he'd. I'm sweaty, increased pulse rate, weakness, vomiting. I just can't function or even get into the shower. Wondering of you have any other ideas on medications to help with my severe anxiety. I also take 2mg Xanax extended release and 0.5 mg instant release for break through anxiety. I also take adderall 30 mg ER and 10 mg at 2 pm. This has helped with my anxiety and also my quality of life except my afternoons I'm very fatigued and tired. I feel like my adderall needs to be increased. Any ideas?

Hello, If you are open to opt for some other mode of treatment, then only can recommend you homoeopathy along with yoga. (But don't stop your ongoing medication all of sudden rather taper it off). Practicing yoga with homoeopathic medication helps you in releasing the stress from your body. Brisk walk in a park will help you inhale more fresh air and oxygen for good functioning of the cells and tissues of the body. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Bacopa Monierri 1x/ thrice daily and Kali Phos. 6x/ once at night. Yogasana: Practice the following poses if you don’t have any medical condition or pregnancy or else take an advice from your concern doctor and then only perform these. 1. Balasana: Sit on your heels with your big toes touching and hands resting on your thighs. Lower your belly and chest to rest between your knees, bringing your forehead to the floor. Relax your arms back beside your shins, palms facing up. Soften your breath by taking 5 to 10 long, deep inhalations and exhalations. 2. Savasana: lie back, letting your body sink into and open around the support. End in a supported pose on your back with a folded blanket under the length of the spine to help arch the upper and middle back, and lengthen the lower back. Move your arms a comfortable distance away from your body and anything else around you. Turn your palms to face up. Separate your legs a natural distance apart. Relax your feet and let them roll open. Finally, do a mental scan from head to toe: Where are you holding tension. Release it from every part of your body—including your heart and head. 3. Bhujanasana: Slowly slide forward from Child's Pose to lie facedown. Press your toes and forehead gently into the floor. Rest your palms lightly on the floor on either side of your chest with fingertips pointing forward and elbows bent and hugging in toward your ribcage. Inhale and lift your chest from the heart, pressing only very lightly into your palms and mostly using your back strength to hold your shoulders and chest up. Soften your shoulders. Then lift your hands off the floor completely, broadening across your collarbones and reaching your heart up. Take a couple of deep, slow breaths here. Then as you exhale, place your palms back down and gently lower your chest to floor.

Dear lybrate user, chest pain can have have multiple reasons. It can be a simple pain originating from the muscles or bones in the chest wall. If pain is brought on by any effort like lifting weights or climbing stairs it might be due to conditions of heart. If it's constant and not brought on by effort, pricking in type it could be due to infection in lung or fluid collection in pleura. I would advise you to consult a physician. Also I would recommend you to take the effort to quit smoking as it poses the highest risk of developing cancer, anywhere in the body.

I have a problem of forgetting things in such a less time. How can I increase my memory power?

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
Exercising regularly for at least 30 minutes has a beneficial effect as well. Strongerbodies have more energy and tend to get things done, like learning new things. More blood flowing to the brain also translates to more oxygen going into your brain cells, andmore waste going out. Think about a time when you were well rested and full of energy and compare it to a time when you were too tired to do anything but lie on the sofa. You probably acted and felt differently and so did your mind. Our dietary habits directly affect how our brains perform. The simple act of taking the time to have a healthy breakfast can really kick -start your brain’s day! As we age, so do our brain cells. We also have fewer brain cells, and the pathways between them begin to lose their ability to communicate. A few changes to our eating habits can help to slow down this process, however. Fatty foods that clog up our arteries also slow down theflow of oxygen to the brain. A few “good” fats, like the Omega3 fatty acids found in fish, are good for our brain health, as are Vitamins A, C and E found in some vegetables, fruits and nuts. A change toward eating better will help your memory to improve as well.

Hi I am 34 year old female. Sometime I have suddenly anger and that time don't know what I am doing Lots of time I beat my 4 year kid very badly, I don't want to do this but suddenly happens after Some minutes I realize. Please help.

DPM, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Mumbai
Sudden anger outbursts could be a sign of something benign like poor stress management or something serious like depression. As a safety measure, visit a psychiatrist to rule out any mental illness. Most mental illnesses are curable. Beating up a helpless child in anger is very detrimental to the child's psychology and your relationship with him. Learn anger management. A lot of tips are available online. Get away from your child when you are angry. Take sips of cold water to calm down. Tell yourself out loud to calm down until you feel you are in control. Lashing out on your baby is setting a very bad example for him. He will mirror your behavior. Get help asap!

To get out of addiction you need to understand and analyse what are the risks due to tobacco vs risks of stopping tobacco. People who have taken professional help have more chances of success than trying on your own. The are nicotine gums available in the market and they are an option. Consult a psychiatrist to know how to go about it.

Fear and tension is mostly associated when there is a feeling of uncertainty about the consequences of your activities or when you start assuming various negative results for a single event and you also feel that you would not be able to manage it. First stop worrying about the consequences and start focusing on the tasks to be completed. Build the confidence that you would be able to mange any difficult situation. You can see that these feelings of fear and tension automatically disappear.

Beat Stress With Yoga & Improve Your Libido!

Yoga literally means ‘union’ and it focuses on harmonizing the mind and body by tackling issues like stress. Stress has a debilitating effect on not only self image but also on a person’s libido. Thus, yoga can indirectly bring back a spark to your love life and boost your libido. Here are 6 yoga poses for better sex.

  1. The Cat stretch: This yoga asana helps strengthen Kegel muscles. Place both your knees and palms on the floor and hips directly above your knees. Inhale while raising your chin, chest and tailbone and arching your back downwards. As you do this, compress your buttocks. Hold your breath for a few second and exhale. As you exhale, arch your back upwards and relax your buttocks.
  2. The Wide legged Straddle: This exercise boosts libido by increasing blood flow to the pelvic area by stretching the inner thighs. Sit upright on the floor with your legs spread as far apart as possible and toes pointed upwards. Hold your knees. While keeping your back straight try taking your palms closer to your ankles. Stop whenever you feel your hamstrings stretch. Hold your breath and extend your chest downwards as far as possible.
  3. The Eagle: This pose enhances blood flow into the cervix. To practice this asana stand upright and bend the left knee while wrapping the calf with your right calf and foot. Lower your buttocks till you are almost in a sitting position and tuck in your tailbone. Simultaneously cross your left arm over the right at the elbow and wrap the fore arms around each other till your palms face each other. Lift your arms upwards and hold the position for as long as possible before releasing. Repeat with the other leg.
  4. The bridge: This position flexes and stretches the hips while toning the vaginal muscles to boost orgasms. Lie on your back and bring your feet 5 inches below your buttocks while bending your knees. Inhale and raise your hips upwards with your palms face down by your side. Hold for 10 seconds and lower your hips while exhaling.
  5. Bound Angle: This asana opens the hips raises the temperature of thee groin area. Begin by witting upright with your legs outstretched in front of you. Bend your knees outwards and bring your soles together so that they are facing each other. Hold your ankles and try lowering your knees to the ground as far as possible.
  6. The cobra pose: This is an energizing asana. Lie on your stomach with palms face down below your ribs. Stretch your legs out with the top of your foot pressing against the ground. Lift your chest off the floor and hold for 10 seconds before releasing. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

Alzheimer's is a neuro-degenerative disease in which the size of the brain cells decreases and leads to problems in thinking and memory. As far as management of this condition is concerned, it is not a one time process. It is a long term process, however somethings that you can control are, make sure he is not smoking, if he is, engage him into tobacco cessation counselling. Make sure he is taking a healthy and a balanced diet and get him involved in some sort of physical exercise after consulting your physician. Get his routine tests done on to rule out hypertenstion, diabetes and high cholesterol levels that aggravates the condition. You can always stay in touch to keep me posted about his condition and progress. If still the condition deteriorates, please visit a psychiatirst.

Dear jahid ,everyone has some role in other's life and when that time will over that person will not be there for a minute also in same role, everything happens for the reason may be god's planning is something else.here you have 3 options 1st you should go and tell her about your love and feelings if she will say ok i am ready to patch up then its well and good, then 2 nd option if she will say i need time to rethink then you should wait and in the mean time don't force or pressurise her because any decission taken because of pressure will not last long and upto when it will continue in that time also you will not feel good ,and at that time your recovery wiil be difficult,so give space so that she realises your importance and when after realising your importance if she will come then trust me that bond will be for life time and lastly 3rd option she will say no in that case you have to move on ,I know its very difficult but life must go on regarding this you can take help of any counsellor ,if you need my held i will be glad to help you.but try atleast once so you will be satisfied that you have done whatever you can do .good luck.

Talking to your wife about this is the only solution. No couple is perfect. There will be some qualities in your wife that you like- highlight them more - appreciate whatever you like in what she does. Most of the times problems in relationships arise due to miscommunication, over expectations and lack of trust. Spend more time with your wife and child and try to find out her likes and dislikes. Avoid discussing your problem with family members because that gives a signal to your spouse that you don't trust and love her - and this increases your problems.
