Pharyngitis is inflammation of the pharynx, located at the back of the throat. Pharyngitis is commonly referred to as sore throat. There are a number of viral and bacterial agents that cause Pharyngitis. Symptoms of Pharyngitis are:
• Sore, dry and itching throat
• Runny nose
• Trouble swallowing
• Body aches
HOW IS PHARYNGITIS DIAGNOSED?
The ear-nose-throat specialist may examine your throat and check for any grey or white patches, swelling and redness. The doctor may also check for swollen lymph nodes. If the doctor suspects strep throat then he may order for a throat culture. If he suspects other types of Pharyngitis, then he may order for blood test
HOW IS PHARYNGITIS TREATED?
Pharyngitis is mostly treated with antibiotics which helps in reducing the severity of condition.
