The dilated oil glands that appear on the face due to excess oil secretions is known as open pores. Oily skin is the characteristic sign of open pores. Some individuals could also have acne and blackheads.

Examination of the skin especially of the cheeks and the T-region of the face would help to reveal these open pores.
HOW IS OPEN PORES TREATED?
Washing the face with products that contain salicylic acid can help control oil secretion. Extra oil can be wiped from the face with the use of toners. Applying sunscreen would protect the skin and prevent new pores from developing. Dermatologist could recommend creams which contain vitamin A. If the pores are too large then laser treatment, skin needling or fractional resurfacing could be recommended.
