The sores that occur on the soft tissue of the mouth such as the lips, gums, tongue and cheeks are known as mouth sores. These small red sores would be painful especially when eating or drinking.

Mouth Sores can be diagnosed by a physical examination of the affected area by an ear nose and throat specialist. Questions regarding new medications, treatments or surgeries would be asked to find out the cause of the sores.
HOW IS MOUTH SORES TREATED?
Mouth sores most often disappear by themselves within 14 days, a doctor could prescribe pain or anti-inflammatory medications if needed. Medications would also be prescribed for mouth sores caused due to viral, bacterial or fungal infections.
