The oral yeast infection that occurs in the mouth and throat is known as Moniliasis or thrush. Patients would experience problems while eating and swallowing and in moving their tongue. The affected area could be itchy and in some cases red with light bleeding.
HOW IS MONILIASIS DIAGNOSED?
A culture swab would be done by a general physician to analyze and study the bacteria causing the symptoms being experienced
HOW IS MONILIASIS TREATED?
Medications prescribed to patients with moniliasis are usually anti-fungal such as clotrimazole and nystatin. Dietary restrictions would be advised due to infections in the mouth.
