Mania is defined as a state of heightened arousal or desire to do something. With mania the emotional and energy levels of the patient goes very high and they may indulge in activities that don't seem normal. There are no lab tests for diagnosing Mania, but psychiatrists perform a physical examination and evaluate your symptoms. Your family and medical history is also evaluated. Lab tests may be performed to rule out other illnesses
HOW IS MANIA TREATED?
Treatment for mania could include some sedatives and drugs to bring down the energy levels of the individual. This is further followed with psychotherapy, counselling and other related treatment modes like group activities.
