Cancer of the tissues that form blood in the body such as the bone marrow and lymphatic system is known as Leukaemia. Fever, fatigue, frequent infections, bleeding, especially nosebleeds and red spots on the skin are some of the symptoms that have been observed in patients.
HOW IS LEUKEMIA DIAGNOSED?
A General Physician/Oncologist/Homeopath diagnoses Leukemia by analyzing the medical history of the family and conducting a physical examination. Also, a blood test helps in determining the blood count. Once Leukemia is diagnosed, it will be staged and begin its treatment.
HOW IS LEUKEMIA TREATED?
Treatment is based on your general health, extent of spread of the cancer and your age. The goal of treatment is to destroy the leukaemia cells. Induction therapy using chemotherapy and corticosteroids is initiated and is followed by consolidation therapy and lastly, maintenance therapy.
DID YOU KNOW?
The leukaemia cells grow at a very fast rate and overtime, they tend to crowd the normal blood cells leading to acute anaemia, bleeding and various other infections as they interfere with the body’s immune system.
