Infestation is a state of being overrun or invaded by pests and parasites. It also refers to the invading organisms living inside a host. Parasites like lice infest externally, while tapeworms live inside the host either in blood stream or in intestines. Symptoms of external infestation are itching, sores in hair, red bumps on skin, thickened or darkened skin. Symptoms of internal infestations are: diarrhoea, GI upset, vaginal irritation, nervous diseases, chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction.
HOW IS INFESTATION DIAGNOSED?
Diagnosis of the same is either done through blood tests, stool tests or even scalp or skin test, depending on the area of infestation.
HOW IS INFESTATION TREATED?
Treatment is done by a general physician on the basis of the attack. Most infestations are treated using anti-parasitic medicines that can be consumed and applied too. The idea is to restrict this infestation and take out these parasites from the body.
