Preeclampsia or Hypertension in Pregnancy is a very common problem that can be a threat for both the mother and child. It usually starts during the second trimester of the pregnancy and may continue till the end. Here the mother’s pressure is rather elevated with feelings of dizziness, high blood pressure and protein in the urine This can directly affect the fetal growth too.

The pressure can be measured using an inflatable arm cuff. In some cases urine tests may be advised to check for protein.

Because it happens during pregnancy, this problem has restricted treatment modules. Bed rest is suggested to such mothers with strict diet changes and constant monitoring of pressure too. Magnesium is injected along with Hydrazine and antihypertensive drugs.
