Food Poisoning is a food borne illness that is caused by eating contaminated food. Food that is contaminated is full of infectious bacteria, viruses and parasites that affect the immune system of the body. Symptoms are:

HOW IS FOOD POISONING DIAGNOSED?
The doctor may be able to diagnose the type of food poisoning based on the symptoms. In severe cases, blood tests, stool tests, urine tests and tests on food that you have eaten may be conducted to determine what is responsible for the food poisoning. A sigmoidoscopy may be recommended in certain cases.
HOW IS FOOD POISONING TREATED?
Food poisoning can be treated at home and the condition resolves in 3 to 5 days. Over the counter medications such as Imodium and Pepto-Bismol can help control diarrhoea and suppress nausea.
