Usually Eye Floaters are minute movable spots visible on the surface but don't really interfere in the functioning of the eyes except with an exception to exposure to certain kind of bright lights. In case the size is large it has chances of casting a shadow on the vision upon exposure to a particular type of light. They tend to disappear with time but at times may affect vision . If black and gray dots, lines, semi-transparent strands or ring shaped spots appear, then it needs to be treated.
HOW IS EYE FLOATERS DIAGNOSED?
The main reason behind its formation is a kind of protein known as collagen which along with gel like vitreous collapses with age ultimately leaving no space to fill at the back of the eye and thus, floats in the vitreous gel. Various eye diseases, injury, tumors, etc can also be the causes.
HOW IS EYE FLOATERS TREATED?
Most eye floaters do not require any treatment. Laser treatment and removal of the vitreous may help in conditions when eye floaters are impairing vision
