Drug abuse and addiction, now both grouped as drug use disorder, is a condition that is characterized by a self-destructive pattern of using a substance that leads to significant problems and distress, which may include tolerance to or withdrawal from the substance. Drug abuse is a serious public health problem that affects almost every community and family in some way. Each year drug abuse causes millions of serious illnesses or injuries. Abused drugs include

HOW IS DRUG ABUSE DIAGNOSED?
Questionnaires such as CAGE and the CRAFFT Screening Test can be used by a general physician or psychiatrist to determine whether an individual is abusing drugs or any other substance.
HOW IS DRUG ABUSE TREATED?
Rehabilitation therapy is the best way to treat drug abuse. Counselling of patients and family members also helps overcome drug abuse.
