This is a cardiac disease which is quite rare and a genetic one. It cannot usually be diagnosed during the new born phase. It is caused due to faulty genetic mutations that give rise to symptoms like delays in development, thin lips, thick or bushy eyebrows, too much of body hair, a fifth finger that will be curved inwards, and a cleft palate.

A general physician would guide on taking certain tests along with physically examining the child. There are various forms of psychological testing available too that help in determining the same.
HOW IS CORNELIA DE LANGE SYNDROME TREATED?
There is no actually or permanent treatment for this disorder. The best way to go about the same would be giving the child medications to combat their poor immunity along with putting them in special schools because of their lower intellect levels. Such individuals may also have a shorter life span.
