It is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. The bone marrow produces too many white cells called granulocytes. These cells, sometimes called blasts or leukemic blasts, gradually crowd the bone marrow, interfering with normal blood cell production. The way the disease presents depends on the stage of the disease at diagnosis as it has been to skip stages in some cases. The symptoms if shown are:

An oncologist diagnoses chronic myeloid Leukemia by the following tests:

HOW IS CHRONIC MYELOID LEUKEMIA TREATED?
The only curative treatment for Chronic myeloid leukemia is a bone marrow transplant or an allogeneic stem cell transplant. Other than this four major mainstays of treatment are done: Treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors, myelosuppressive or leukopheresis therapy, splenectomy and interferon alfa 2b treatment
