Cerebral infarctions refer to a type of strokes that are generally ishchemic in nature. These occur due to a blockage in the blood vessels that supply blood to the brain. It can also occur when a leakage happens in these blood vessel walls.
HOW IS CEREBRAL INFARCTION DIAGNOSED?
The health care practitioner will recommend a Computed tomography (CT) and MRI scanning of the damaged area in the brain to diagnose the symptoms were caused by a tumor. The blockage of the blood vessels will be visible on the angiogram.
HOW IS CEREBRAL INFARCTION TREATED?
The most common treatment method for cerebral infarction was the administration of thrombolytic drugs. Thrombolysis therapy aims to remove the blockage by breaking the clot down. Thrombectomy on the other hand involves surgical removal of the clot. Neurosurgeons are now looking at angioplasty and stenting as treatment methods for cerebral infarction
