HOW IS BIRTH DEFECTS DIAGNOSED?
Gynaecologists detect birth defects during the prenatal tests. Birth defects that cannot be diagnosed during the prenatal tests are tested by paediatricians after the baby is born through newborn screening tests.
HOW IS BIRTH DEFECTS TREATED?
The severity as well as the kind of defect will usually influence the type of treatment that will be used by the pediatrician or any other specialist. Surgeries and medication may be required for defects that can affect the overall quality of the baby’s life.
