Ascariasis is an infection of the small intestine caused by Roundworms. It is the most common type of roundworm infection. The infection may occur in places where food and water are not safe. The symptoms depend on the location of the round worm in the body. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, etc.
HOW IS ASCARIASIS DIAGNOSED?
In early stages of Ascariasis there may be no symptoms. The doctor may advise various tests to diagnose the situation: • Blood and stool tests • CT scans • ultrasounds • MRI scans • endoscopy
HOW IS ASCARIASIS TREATED?
Roundworm is usually treated with antiparasitic drugs. Medications may be advised by the doctor as a treatment. In severe cases surgery may be used to remove the worms manually.
