Acute Diarrhea or Diarrhea that lasts for more than 4 weeks, is caused by infections which are contagious, or from contaminated water and food. Main symptoms are water like stool, chronic pain in abdomen, inability to digest food, and pancreatic problems.
HOW IS ACUTE DIARRHEA DIAGNOSED?
Mild acute diarrhoea resolves quickly and does not require any medical diagnosis. Adequate rest and dietary changes would suffice. Blood tests are useful for evaluating the condition in case of severe or bloody diarrhoea. Stool samples help classify the type of diarrhea.

Acute diarrhea gets cured automatically with time. Treatments can be done with medicines like antacids with magnesium, laxatives, few antibiotics, or even chemotherapy drugs. Sometimes surgeries are required to remove small parts of the intestine.
