I haven't been able to sleep since 2 days and I am having a severe headache, tried multiple home remedies, but didn't work, what to do? Please help me!

MBBS

For headache take tablet paracetamol 650 mg eight hourly and few things related to headache so that we can plan the treatment accordingly - if pain is associated with blurred or decreased vision than check your eye sight for refractive error - if the pain is pulsatile in nature and with a throbbing pain usually with an aura than we have to rule out migrane as the cause - if the pain is associated with neck problems than we have to rule out cervical spondylosis as the cause - if the pain is associated with either low or high bp or due to hyperacidity than we have to treat the cause after examination - if the pain is associated with cold and fever than we have to rule out sinusitis as the cause.

MBBS

Dear lybrate-user, one of the main reasons for not getting proper sleep is that plans made during the day time or earlier, do not succeed and mind finds ways or speculates or wanders to find ways to make the the plans work. These mental speculations repeat in mind at time of sleeping. So, due to plans not working as the mind likes to, the mind remains in agitated state due to finding no way and thus leads to frustration which avoids mind to go into sleep mode. This leads to not getting proper sleep. One has to break one's self-centeredness to avoid the thoughts and frustrations entering into mind at time of sleep leading to improper sleep. The solution is to not intentionally think further about plans, but with faith surrender to the supreme and instead of thinking about the plans it is better to read a nice book, listen to nice music or talks which do not allow mind to get frustrated with mental speculations. Drinking cow's milk in night before sleep also should help.

My father in law has undergone neck operation for removing a lump? Operation has been successful, but doctor has told him to take food which does not contain Iodine. Please . Provide list of food which does not have iodine.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Some foods that contain iodine that you'll probably want to avoid are Iodized salt, sea salt and salty foods. ... All dairy products (milk, sour cream, cheese, cream, yoghurt, butter, ice cream) Margarine. Egg yolks.FOODS THAT ARE OK Non-iodized salt may be used as desired Egg whites Homemade bread made with non-iodized salt and oil (not soy!) instead of butter or milk or commercially-baked breads which do not contain iodate dough conditioners, dairy, or eggs Fresh fruits and vegetables Frozen vegetables Grain, cereal products and pasta without high iodine ingredients Canned fruit Natural unsalted nuts and nut butters (peanut, almond, etc) Sodas, beer, wine, lemonade, fruit juices Coffee or tea. But remember, no milk or cream and no soy-based non-dairy creamer! Popcorn popped in vegetable oil or air popped, with non-iodized salt Black pepper, fresh or dried herbs and spices, all vegetable oils Sugar, jam, jelly, honey maple syrup Matzoh crackers ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES Avoid restaurant foods since there is no reasonable way to determine which restaurants use iodized salt. Consult your doctor before discontinuing any red-colored medication or any medication containing iodine (i.e., Amiodarone, expectorants, topical antiseptics). Avoid all herbal supplements (especially when one is not sure how much iodine they contain Seafood (fish, shellfish, seaweed, kelp)

It is better to alternate night shifts with day shifts on a weekly basis. If that is not possible, try doing physical exercise in the mornings so that you get physically tired and fall asleep. Sleep 8 hours minimum.
